F'in awesome.
This guy will be an offensive option on the second team, runs great, has great feet, and looks like and excellent passer. Not saying he's better than Perk, different type player, but he scores when he gets the ball under the basket.
Nelson is an idiot. We've got two legit centers for the long haul. I think he could even play a little pf beside Perk. Can't control myself.......

^^^ POB is so tall long and athletic he doesn't have to be really good. It's like when I play doubles tennis with the older women. I don't really have to have real skill to beat them - the bigger stronger faster thing is more then enough. I don't know what his standing reach is but it makes Powe, Davis and company look short.
It's the same with Perkins really.. Perkins is just so huge that even nominal skill is enough to really make a difference. FWIW I think Perkins is a more skilled the POB at this point with regards to defense, postioning and more. POB seems like he will be a better scorer. But POB wasn't as dumb a player as I imagined.
What I liked most about him is that he seemed to want it. Maybe the whole cut from GS humbed him... I am excited to see him in the next game. I thought he would be a total hopeless bust at first -and then I thought maybe he could be like the old Blount. If anything he might be more gifted then Blount was at this point..

The pass to Miles was really nice. He will be valuable at the high post with passing skills like that. I was wondering in a couple of years what an athletic lineup this would be.
Perk
POB
Walker
Giddens
Rondo
We could mos def run with that lineup, barring that all work out.

Do you think POB is a defensive liability? He looked a little soft to me on that end. I think he should improve dramatically going at it with KG and Perk in practice and he does have the tools.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Yeah I suck at tennis. I am better at hoops but I should be awesome. I have Tony Allen size - albeit with short arms. <g> Also - am not buff and cannot jump. haha. I guess I am like a short Brian Scalabrine!

Something to keep in mind, is that POB was playing his first game minutes with 4 guys who ran all last season and playoffs together. A strong team defense figured out through experience.
When I think back to how out of sync Brown looked when he first came back as a very experienced player, I found it quite a relief to see how well POB fit in so quickly. No question there is lots of room for improvement. If he has a decent learning ability, it can only get better after 50 games of experience.

Re: What an impressive play by Patrick!!
Keep in mind that this is really like POBs rookie year and so you can expect that he'll look a bit awkward at times, and probably "miss" some assignments. But I'm pretty sure that over time when he gets more experience under his belt (which it appears he will get with you guys) and with the continued help he'll get from Ray and KG, you will see improvement over time. The good thing for you guys is that you're not going to be too dependent over him and you have the depth to cover him if/when he goes through some bad stretches (as well as coaches who'll know when to play him and pull him).
Don't expect him to perform that well against guys like Yao and some of the bigger/more experienced Centers out there (that's when Perk does his best work). One thing you can expect however, is that he's not afraid to "bang" with those guys and is not afraid to foul them which is good too since many of those guys don't shoot good free throws. The down side is that he's likely to get in foul trouble but that will be better than giving up easy baskets. You'll find that he'll make them work for it, and that's what you want with the more dominant Centers he'll have to go up against.
With Perk, POB, Powe, Davis and Scalabrine, you guys should be able to pound the crap out of most of the big time Centers out there.

Re: What an impressive play by Patrick!!
When i saw "assist of the night" involving Obee, I thought it was gonna be for his over the shoulder whip that got him an assist I think it was to Miles..
Then i saw the clip with the Obee catch and dunk...........Eff!!! that was beautiful.
i told you the kid had some tools and that playing with guys like KG, Allen, etc. would be the perfect medicine for him.
Good rotational player.......Perfect for the price you paid.

From the Globe:

He is definitely saying what we want to hear. I just hope he keeps working hard...
"I love playing basketball," O'Bryant said. "Getting a chance to play, it's hard not to have fun, even if you are out there working hard [and] you feel like you are dying from exhaustion."
Asked if he preferred making a good defensive play or an offensive play, O'Bryant said, "I prefer a blocked shot. There are not many people who pride themselves on being a shot-blocker. I want to be able to come in the game and make a difference. When I walk off the court, people will know Pat was just here, he helped us get a better lead, he shut down someone, or whatever it is I needed to do."
