Cassell makes more sense on Rivers' coaching staff

Post#1 » by campybatman » Thu Oct 16, 2008 5:18 am

If this is the case, Cassell in a suit and tie as oppose to a jersey makes more sense if his contract is indeed guaranteed. If Miles' contract isn't... Then that's flexibility in terms of a roster opening down the road next season.

By the way, perhaps I'd missed it, has Thibodeau and others re-signed?

Guard Sam Cassell, who has a guaranteed contract, sat out last night and has played in only one exhibition. When asked if Cassell could be an assistant coach and not a player when the season starts, Rivers said, "I don't know yet. We'll see." The Celtics have 16 players on their roster and must cut one before the season begins. The only player with a non-guaranteed deal is forward Darius Miles. Boston Globe

If nothing else it makes sense from the standpoint that it keeps him off the court!! Thank goodness!!!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
