West isn't thinking about this right. I understand why he's depressed. He's so strange looking.

But that's how a guy thinks. Many women love him to pieces. To this day he's still my wife's favorite Celtic. I try to explain to her he's not part of the team. Now she's going to blame DA for shipping him out.

We can't all be pretty boys like Kobe. He needs a woman, not my wife, that loves him and he'll be a lot better off. The guy has a lot going for him. The stuff that counts in life, West has.

Yeah he is the NBA - that's a pretty sweet gig. He needs to look at the positive side of things. I doubt the look thing bothers him - I am sure plenty of ladies dig him. I am sure he will be fine now..with treatment.

Good to see that he is getting and open to getting the help he feels he needs. I think he has a nice David Wesley type career in front of him as an under-sized NBA SG.

My impressions is that none of his former and current teammates were aware of the problem...

And like many social diseases like alcoholism, the suffer can hide their condition very well... I think because they feel embarrassed to seek help.

Get better Delonte... we are all rooting for you!

West’s admission had some of his former Celtics teammates in disbelief.

“Yeah, I’m surprised, but then again not really,” Celtics center Kendrick Perkins said before last night’s exhibition game.

“I obviously know him personally, and we talked at times,” Perkins said. “But he never broke down for me all of the stuff he was going through away from the team. But man, that’s hard for someone to have to go through.”

That first Perk quote ain't exactly reassuring.
But I'm in Delontes corner, he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders from what hes let the fans see of him. We all go through ups n downs and I have confidence this is just a speedbump on a otherwise good life.

Had plenty of women in my day and trust me, that's not the answer if Delonte suffers with bipolar disorder. I do and can tell you that it's not an emotional type depression or elation that just comes and goes depending on your circumstances.

I read about this today and I seriously hope he's not going through what I've had to deal with for the last 15 years.

It struck me as encouraging that he discussed the disorder so openly, but I believe very few people have the capacity to really understand. Most will think he should just be happy or find somebody or something to make him happy. Just get over it.

It's not so simple. I hope for him and his family this is something not so complicated that he won't have any long-term debilitating effects from it.

If just getting a girl would heal you I'd have had this thing cured a long time ago.

We were aware of this problem to some extent, because when his head was in the right place he was a great shooter and when it wasn't, well...

If he is able to get his head right more permanently, he'll turn some heads on the court.

That's really funny, my wife's the same way, and I really didn't have to convince her much.

I gotta say this isn't particularly surprising ... at least it's not surprising that he's depressed. It is however a tad surprising that he was so depressed he considered quitting.

Gotta root for Delonte.

Has anybody ever heard a whiff of Delonte behaving badly while dealing with his mental problems?

I haven't, and major props to him and the mother who brought him up for that being so.

Best of luck to him.

Choclate:

It's not plenty of women. That's the problem. A moody guy needs one, a special one.

Anyways, I told my wife and she laid into DA for trading him. She still loves him.
