Look, as much as people are going to think that the Celtics have taken a step back by losing Posey and PJ it's simply not the case. This years team is entering the season with much, much better chemistry, more confidence, and a more diversified offense. Last season's team was a much weaker and disjointed offensive bunch with little proven offensive firepower off the bench. This seasons team has a legit go to option off the bench offensively in Leon Powe who's already displayed tremendous improvement on the block and in terms of his confidence. Last year's bench had no go to options and was completely reliant on other players to create shots for them.
Overall, the team is much more cohesive and is definitely looking to improve on a mediocre offensive output of last year. This team should be one of the better offenses in the league this season, most likely top 5 rather than the middle of the road offensive team it was last season.
There is no reason to believe that this team will take a step back from a defensive standpoint. So basically you have the best defensive team in basketball, a proven champion, with an improving offense... I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Celtics have a much smoother ride to a championship this year. Their a great team who'll be looking to improve on last years success, and frankly they have the pieces and cohesiveness to do so.

Re: NBA Gms Vote Lakers the Favorites
I don't understand how expert could mention PJ Brown as someone we lost. That's not true. We did not use PJ during the regular season. You cannot predict regular season potential of the Celtics while mentioning Brown.
Posey though is another case. I always said he is not replaceable and we may be weaker defending the 3 spot and shooting the 3 therefore. But we will be more athletic. We did not have enough slashers last year and now that we become a strength. The hoop will be attacked again and again!
But Rondo, Powe, Perkins and Allen (maybe Pruitt) should improve further while I do not see any signs of decline from one of the Big 3 (maybe next year).
Everybody should remember that we have been called ultra-thin at the beginning of last season. Even though we HAD POSEY then. One year ago the impact of role players has been overvalued and now we will be getting our rings!
Therefore we are as good as last year. We may win a few games less, but the last playoffs have shown that homecourt advantage is the key. Nobody knows that better as the Celtics. Therefore they will try to achieve the best record again.
63 wins.
And for the playoffs? We will see. If PJ Brown won't be part of the team again and nobody stepped up I will agree that we haven't replaced him

The reason for the season....that's why they play the game. Real GM can keep that up all season long if it makes some fans happy. We'll see you in the Finals.
