Couz has been difficult to listen to for way too many years. The newer, younger fans deserve a commentator who isn't stuck in the 1960's.

I dunno man. I enjoy listening to stories from the 50s and 60s. Part of the allure with the Celtics is their rich tradition, so why not have the greatest PG in Celtics history school us on some of that history?

What sucks is that Cous isn't a rich guy either, and I'm sure this gig helped him out somewhat. I was pretty bummed out when the guy had to sell all of his memorobilia a few years ago.

And yeah, we should start a petition. Cous fought hard for Celtic Nation. The least we could do as Celtics fans is fight on his behalf and get his job back.

I contacted a Comcast guy whose email I had too. His replied with a poilte, well-written and useless form letter.

I wrote back again and gently pressed him for some real information, asking what the real reason was behind the Cousy firing. He did reply and basically said he could not comment further.

There is a story behind this, but no one is letting that information out: They fired Bob Cousy from doing the games, offering him some "other roles within our network." Cousy wanted to continue broadcasting.

They are not saying why they did it.

I think it's obvious why they did it. He wasn't a good broadcaster. They also don't need him to help sell the games anymore. The teams play is doing that now. By having cousy sell it I mean having people watch that are on the fence about watching the game because cousy is parttaking in the broadcast.

I have no way of knowing what most people think of him. I can only speak for myself on that one: I always look forward to the Cousy games and thought he was a really good broadcaster.

Regardless you don't kick Bob Cousy to the curb any more than your take away Red's title of President like Pitino did, no matter how old he is.

Maybe Comcast had a good reason. Or maybe it was a selfish corporate reason. Or maybe it was a personal decision by one Comcast executive. No one knows because they're not saying.

I agree, bad decision from Comcast...I was miffed when I heard about this a while back.

We lose Couz and Tommy (for away games, but for a good reason) and get Greg? YUCK! I don't mind Donny too much but he ain't no Couz!

I think the issue is that Tommy isn't going to be on the road and that is when Cous does games for the most part unless he just happens to be in town. Half of the game is Tommy explaining to Cousy who everyone is in the first place and whether or not they are any good and at the same time Mike is tellling Tommy what call the ref made and whether it was right or not before he loses it. It was all very charming and is like going to the game with your Dad and your uncles or whatever but without Tommy to talk about the old times Cous is going to seem like even more of a fuddy duddy.

Donny is a second stringer and I hope they are not grooming him to replace Tommy but he doesn't really bother me. Dickerson bothers me his role could not be reduced enough.
