J.A. Andande answered one of my questions about the Celts

Post#1 » by banks336 » Fri Oct 31, 2008 7:30 pm

William Graves (Chapell Hill,NC): Do you think the Celtics would be interested in going after Marbury if he's released? Only to make him a back-up to Rondo because it seems like teams would be going after Rondo this year by banging him up. Also he would give the bench a spark.

J.A. Adande: (3:25 PM ET ) I'm getting a few of these Steph-to-Boston questions, but there's a few issues. 1) Would KG forgive Steph for leaving him hanging in Minny years ago? I think yes, that people in the NBA can forgive and forget anything (see the Nellie-Webber reunion last season). 2) could Steph fit in the unselfish, sacrificing attitude that pervaded the Celtics last season? That I seriously doubt. I don't think he's willing to come in somewhere and be a secondary player. He's never done it in his career, and I doubt he'd be willing to start that now

As much sense as his talent level and game would make here as the back up PG he just isn't a guy that you'd trust to not screw up the chemistry here. He still has more then enough left in the tank and is still more talented then 20-25 of the starting PG's in this league right now but he is truely not right in the head.

I don't know if he smoked too much crack or took too much acid but he is one of the poster childs for the late 80's early 90's primadonnas who nearly ruined the league and its appeal to casual fans. You can make a pretty depressing list of guys who had alltime talent go to waste from that era.

Good to see the D'Antoni/NY fans marriage falling apart 1 game in:

With some in the Garden crowd surprisingly chanting "We Want Steph" with 11:10 remaining in the fourth (others booed the chant), a stewing D'Antoni was caught on MSG Network cameras Wednesday in a tirade, mouthing:

"You've got to be (bleeping) kidding me. You've got to be (bleeping) kidding me. What a bunch of (bleeps)."

I'm all set with steph. He only brings scoring. He hasn't been a good facilitator in years. We are better off with Eddie and even sam.

If he initiated things then why not. Only if he said he wanted to be back up point and fit his game into our system. Who knows that may be the easiest way to redeem himself and look for a contract next year somewhere he can start. It comes down the 1- the Knicks cutting him and 2- Steph wanting to fit in here. I doubt number 2 happens because there are enough good teams he could start for.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I agree with Prophet_C (hey, that rhymed!): Adande got it in one.

Just say NO to Proposition Marbury!
