The passion of Cassell... Could he excel as a head coach
I'm almost convinced that he'll be a coach on Boston's staff next season or on another team's bench soon. He sure can gab, but I bet he knows what he's talking about most times.

Rivers still plans to play Cassell at some point this season.

Cassell is in transition from player to coach. Though he has not played a minute for the Celtics this season, he is involved in practices and acts as an unofficial assistant coach during games. Head coach Doc Rivers still plans to use Cassell in a playing role but is holding him in reserve, to be brought out at about the same time he was last year when he joined the Celtics for their run to the NBA championship.
"Two or three years from now, I want to be a head coach," Cassell said. "And I'm going to be a hell of a coach."
Cassell is about pragmatism and realism, not magic words, spells, or incantations.
"I classify myself as a winner," Cassell said. "I took teams that weren't playoff teams to the playoffs. I brought that fire you've got to have to get there.

So he lets Rajon play when Doc was doing a symbolic move by letting him in on a game that was decided a long time earlier? I guess it's something...
yeah he's comic relief.

Re: The passion of Cassell... Could he excel as a head coach
I thought part of the terms of Sam's contract he signed this summer was that after this season he'd remain as an assistant coach on Doc's staff? If so I think he'd be really good at it. While I think he's a bad fit for this team as a player, he seems to be doing a good job on the bench, although he needs to bend Rondo's ear more...that kid needs to improve NOW...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
