Randolph to the Clippers

Post#1 » by Andrew McCeltic » Fri Nov 21, 2008 9:54 pm

Nice to see the Clippers spending money, at least. Randolph isn't Elton Brand but he's a 20-10 power forward.

Who gets dealt now, Camby or Kaman?

i see one of those three coming of the bench. if they do trade camby is the easiest to trade since he will become a free agent a year before lebron wade and bosh becomes one.

it also seams like whenever golden states odes a trade the clippers does a trade. Whenever one of them signs a free agent the other does the same thing. Interesting :)

I think this is a bad trade for the Clippers. They are collecting inefficient chuckers - Ricky Davis, Baron Davis, Zach Randolph. Sure they didn't give up much in Thomas/Mobley, but they are picking up more salary and won't even make the playoffs. It's the Isiah Thomas strategy of acquiring name players with big contracts who don't actually help their team win.

Very good day for the Knicks though. Cleared up a bunch of cap space for 2010 and acquired players who fit in the D'Antoni system in the meantime. If they can showcase Curry like they did with Randolph and deal him for a contract that expires before 2010 and waive/buyout Marbury, then it's a great job by Walsh to get rid of the horrible contracts accumulated by Isiah.

The Clippers frontcourt couldn't guard a chair, but Kaman/Randolph/Thornton is a lot of offensive firepower.

If LAC starts jacking a lot of shots up like a Steve Nash team, they could get over .500.

Maybe Tim Thomas will get bought out--he'd be a great fit here....not likely, but the Knicks are all over the place.

My guess is neither.....presumably they made this deal thinking that Randolph's defensive struggles will be less of an issue for them because he'll always have a great shot-blocker on the court with him. Oh, and if you meant to imply that they'll have to trade one to make room, keep in mind that a 3-man rotation at PF/C leaves 32 mpg for each player, which is plenty of time. Really it's guys like Skinner and Paul Davis (who have each been getting about 10 mpg) who are going to get squeezed out by Randolph, not Kaman/Camby.

Yeah,I was thinking that but his recent injury history has me questioning whether we'd want him.

Call me crazy but talentwise I don't like this deal for NY, Randolph was really thriving in Dantoni's system, and I guess cap wise this deal makes sense, but seriouly randploph was putting up over 20 and 12, who will ny put up front now, eddy curry again? This frees up cap space for the big summer, but that could have been done farther down the road, its a bad trade for both sides, LA doesnt have a plac for randolph barring another trade, If they do trade Kamen this makes more sense, but right now I am just not a fan

Does it surprise you that the Clippers and Knicks make a deal and they both lose?

This deal hurts the Knicks - so does the crawford deal. Those were the two best Knicks. It's a pure contract move. I guess they really think they will get Lebron.

was chatting with a Clips stafferyday and she said they are not done dealing yet. if I can dream, it'd be nice to see Camby for Scal + BBD + either Walker/Giddens/Pruitt + maybe cash?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Clipps' use a linuep of:

Baron
Gordon
Randolph
Camby
Kaman

and bring Thorton off the bench this Year, and move Camby or Kaman for a legit 2-Guard later.
BAF 1.0 - Wizards: Year 2
PG: Kemba Walker (32) / Rivers (16) / Felton
SG: Evan Fournier (28) / Evans (20) / Dotson
SF: Gordon Hayward (36)/ Delly (12) / Dudley
PF: Kevin Love (36) / Frye (12) / Ellenson
C: Pau Gasol (32) / Noah (16) / Felicio
