This is what Doc had to say after yesterday`s game:

“I think the whole thing is set up around Rondo. I really do,” Rivers said. “When he pushes the ball up the floor every single possession we score out of our sets and we score out of our routes. That makes us really good offensively, because now his speed is a factor. I thought his speed was the factor of the game, and it sets the table for everyone else. Then I thought our defensive pressure was huge for us. He has done that three or four games in a row, and we are winning by big margins.

“I really believe that is the reason.”

Do you agree with Doc? I certainly do. We look like a different team when Rondo is aggressive on the offensive end. It brings our offense to a completely new level. We look dynamic, smooth, it just opens up our whole game. When he plays like that I really feel we are the best team in the NBA and that we can sore on anybody. Obviously, consistency is the key for Rondo. I hope he plays like this every game.

I agree with it, but am not getting too excited about the last 3 games. We've hardly been playing teams with All-Defensive Team caliber PG's or good help defense. The key for Rondo is continuing to be effective even when we're playing against teams/PG's which match up better against him.

I agree Dave, it's important for Rondo to perform against elite defensive opponents. I take all performances with a grain of salt unless it's coming against Atlanta, Cleveland or LAL. Those are the only teams in the NBA with any hopes of taking down the Celtics in the playoffs so the real tests come against those three teams.

Beyond Rondo's performance against those teams it is imperative that he continues to play with confidence and continues to push tempo.

Rondo has really picked it up offensively and so has the team so I agree with the statement.

OT but if you go to the PC board they have a topic about top 10 defensive PG's. I was definitely expecting to see Rondo on the list and IMO he is top 3, but I was shocked to see the majority of people putting him at 1 especially with all the hate on the C's as of late. Anyone else surprised by this,

In all honesty, I believe that Rondo's defense is perceived as much stronger because he has Perk and KG covering his back for him. I wish he spent a lot more time staying in front of his man rather than trying for the steal from behind, although that might be something he's encouraged to do given the guys backing him up.

I really don't know the defense of many other PG's really to compare so maybe I'm off base, but using a recent example, when Calderon gets beat by Rondo there is nobody to back him up and it's an easy bucket. If Rondo gets beat by Calderon on the drive he has a ton of help on the way.

I used to hate on rondo, and liked D West much better (i still love Delonte).


I wanted a more traditional PG, at the beginning of last season I even thought I would rather have someone like a Jameer Nelson because of his offensive ability.


How wrong I was (although I still think Rondo HAS to keep working hard on his game).

When Rondo is on his game, even if the Big 3 are only playing average, the Celts are UNSTOPPABLE.

Rondo is doing a much better job of finding ALL his teammates this season, not just the Big Three. Scoring for this team is far more balanced through the first 15 games, and I think that bodes well down the stretch. We all know Pierce can match any player in the NBA point for point when it comes down to it, but getting players like Allen, BBD, Powe and even Rondo himself to take charge of games will only result in a more dominant performance in the playoffs.

People kept asking in the larger media pool how we'll replace Posey. The answer is coming in the form of a better collective TEAM. What people fail to remember is that the 07-08 team was built in the offseason; they had not even had a full year together when they were reaching the playoffs last year. Now they're battle-tested and have had a full offseason to work together and prepare for another run. The improved play out of players #4-10 on our team (aka- those not part of the Big Three) has let us rest the stars, which IMO is crucial to spring/summer success. There's a reason why SA is usually great every other year- the Finals run takes a ton out of you. Hopefully the more balanced minutes this year will keep KG, PP and RA rested.

agreed, but i'm glad we got rid of gomes, he is a metiocre, collegiate level player imo...and eats at mcdonalds before games... which does not show a great deal of intellect, and that was supposed to be one of his strong suits.

If you're working out as hard as these guys do, the food isn't going to fatten you up. It's mainly protein and complex fats anyways.

never mind that health aspect, mcdonalds is just disgusting, and their burgers actually don't have much protein cos their so small and filled with pockets of AIR.

So there are fast food nuances, which you seem to be unaware of.
