Quick impression of Special Edition DVD

Post#1 » by chakdaddy » Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:26 pm

Quickly looked at Finals games 1, 5.

- As expected, they gave us the 4:3 instead of the widescreen. So it looks like crap on a modern TV.

- Picture quality looks pretty bad too.

- At least the introductions, championship celebration, etc appear to be faithfully intact from the original broadcast. I feared they'd be cut.

So it's ok, I guess. Luckily I'm burning nice widescreen copies from DVR to DVD but I'll have to make do with a downloaded version of the clincher!!

How do the freaking Spurs get complete playoffs and we don't??? I am still waiting for the complete set of all Celtics playoff games as originally broadcast. May never happen, but that one would be in wide screen at least.

Who should I email at the NBA to let them know that my $80-100 is just sitting around waiting for the boxed set to become a reality? Maybe a bit of grass roots coordination could make it happen.

Alternatively, Chak: if you can put the original games on DVD, then we should talk offline. Drop me a PM please.
