Should have done this....

Post#1 » by sprash9802 » Wed Dec 3, 2008 5:56 pm

... a long time ago. But it's better late than never, I assume :). Someone had asked me this in an earlier thread, so I thought I would post a new topic about it. This is a BIG thank you, to all my fellow RealGM Celtics fans for your compassion and care while I was going through a rough phase not too long ago. I thought I had seen the lowest point in my life a couple of years ago, but I hit the lowest of lows around March. Most of you who know me know what the issue was. I was battling acute depression as a result of it, and I live to post here thanks to my friends (including my virtual friends here on realGm), my family and also the Cs. You guys gave me valuable advice and helped me navigate a brutal stretch ..... And in a funny way, I thought I had gone past it, when another brief period of turbulence hit me a couple of months ago... But I am doing better now :). Watching the C's win it all last year was one of the best tonics to my battle with depression. And hopefully, it is just the beginning of a terrific run by this great franchise :)

I know I can be really pessimistic at times, and can lose it when the C's don't meet my lofty expectations. But I am a real hardcore fan, who lives and dies by his team. If I have angered anyone, I apologize. Please do bear with me and my bitching and complaining. After all, I only want this team to do well. And I hope to have a drink or two with some of you guys, if possible, in the near future :)

Thanks Gant :)... And seriously, you should consider writing for one of the sports websites.... Your posts are funny, informative and refreshing... I would rather read your posts than agenda-driven drivel by guys like Adande...

Glad to hear that you're doing well, Sprash, and keep up the good fight.

I understand that you are a die-hard C's fan, it's just that when the depression is strong you have a unique way of expressing it. Food for thought for every poster on here--- we rarely know what our 'virtual' friends are going through in the 'real' world.

Good to hear!

I actually think you "outbursts" in game threads help this team play better, so keep it up! ;)

I haven't been posting here as much as I used to as some real life stuff has been keeping me astray but you've always been one of the posters who's personality really made an unforgettable imprint in my memory. I don't always agree with you but your bluntness is refreshing and your veins are clearly tinted green.

I'm constantly fighting my own demons so I know how tough it is to climb out of the depths of the doldrums when it gets really, really bad. Best of luck man, and if you ever hit another rough patch don't hesitate for a moment to talk about it here.

We gots to take care of our own.

Good to hear, man

it's kind of corny but some of the stories of these players are inspiring..like paul pierce gets stabbed within an inch of his life, fully recovers, gets stuck on AWFUL teams and after a horrible losing season then gets to see an amazing 1-summer turnaround

the downs in life make the ups more real, IMO, more meaningful

As long as you keep cheering on the Celtics, I'm happy and As long as you have Steve Waugh in your avatar, I'm happy too. :)
Even though, Steve Waugh is retired, Aussies will still beat every cricket team this summer! :)

Depression sucks. Glad to hear things are going better for you, and may the Celt's continue to bring all us hardcores good cheer.

Good to hear Sprash.

The one thing no one can doubt is your passion for the Celtics.
