Disrespect in the Daily Dime
Well maybe it's not that bad. But after 19 games, Chris Broussard feels that he can predict that the Cavs will win the ECF by defeating the Celtics. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime
This is how he sees the playoff seedings shaking out
1 Cavs
1a Celtics
3 Magic
4 Pistons
5 Hawks
6 Raptors
7 Sixers
8 Heat
Additionally, there's a sportsnation poll: Do the Cavaliers have enough weapons to top the Celtics in the playoffs?
Currently, it's 57% yes to 43% no.
Now, we all know how accurate ESPN predictions have been in the past, but what do you think has sown all those doubt about the Celtics? Is it that Posey was elevated to god-like status by the media in the playoffs? Are the Big 3 showing signs of ageing that I've missed? Does Mo. Williams make that big of an impact in a playoff series, over Delonte and Wally who both played great? Should we be making moves to match up better with the Cavs?

The move we need for the Cavs is a second player who can defend Big Z when Perk goes to the bench.
Kinda like PJ Brown.
I don't know that Big Baby can push him all the way out of his shooting range.

I'd be worried if ESPN predicted we were going to win, remember last season?

We could also benefit from Ray Allen playing like Ray Allen instead of David Thirdkill. <g>

he's a writer trying to get his name out. if he had more traditional rankings, we likely wouldn't have started a thread about his article.
The fact that he places the Raptors and Sixers ahead of the Heat is also a head scratcher, imo.

do you guys believe Patrick O will get any PT this year? He can defend bigs as a backup and is actually pretty mobile for a player 7'1

i doubt it. not that he doesn't have talent, its just that he is so skinny and weak. he just doesn't have the physical tools yet to defend and rebound his position effectively.

That was a sportsnation poll, not an ESPN view

The Cavs are much improved from last year---it took us 7 games and an enormous effort by Paul Pierce to beat them...Plus, the Cavs have Wally's expiring contract, to go after someone like Marion or VC @ the deadline....this is NOT an unlikely scenario....Danny needs to find a way to boost out bench---I dunno how he's gonna do it.

Re: Disrespect in the Daily Dime
They can say what they want but it wont matter till the Playoffs.
One may argue that the Cavs got better (Mo Will addition) and the Celts got worse (James Posey left) but i think that with one year under there belt AND a Chip The Celts will be even more hungry for a Repeat and there Bench player along with Rondo and Perk have one more year under there belt.
We'll see what happens this summer. (Prediction = Repeat)

^^^ He was awful in the Cleveland series. Lucky for us he remembered who the heck he was after getting abused by Wally. He wasn't just off his game in the Cleveland series - he was a net negative.

Uh the Cavs were the defending Eastern Conference champs last season. I don't think that they are all that much improved this year either. Mo Williams helps night to night and he puts up numbers but the fact remains he is a turnstyle on defense and my guess is that Rondo is going to be a much tougher guard than the guy you just leave open this post season. As Pete pointed out that was about as bad as Ray could play and that pretty much came to an end shortly after. His sweet shot is back, he seems healthier and his kid seems to be doing well. Something tells me that come the postseason that the Boston Celtics might be much improved as well.
Hell we also have Scal.

The Celtics don't need motivation. That's the great thing about this team. How do the Lakers even compare?
I like all of the disrespect the C's are getting. It makes me laugh. This team is a finely tuned machine that will CRUSH the Lakers. The Cavs will present the toughest challenge, but they will play the role that the Detroit Pistons played for years before the C's relinquished.
