STICKY!! Rivalries

Post#1 » by ws26 » Fri Dec 5, 2008 3:01 am

Hey, I'm gonna write an article on rivalries and I wanted some feedback.
I was hoping that you could give me a list of the team you would consider your rival, scale that rivalry 1-10, and your most hated player in the league (on any team).
Thanks.

That isn't so simple.

I would think Boston has 3 true rivals.

The Lakers, the biggest but they just don't play enough still a 10.

The Sixers, just think of that picture of Larry and Dr J with their hands around each others throats and Andrew Toney. Always a big game even when both teams suck. 9

The Pistons, not as old as the Sixers and Lakers but runs deep. No love. 9

Some will say the Knicks but thats garbage the Nets are probably bigger rivals at this point. It is only geography little shared history. That and complete penis envy from Knick fans.

I have actually been lucky enough to see a playoff game of all 3 and it is just an awesome experience. It is completely different than say a game against the Pacers which has its own side show but just no hate.

While Bill Lambier stills breaths air it is tough to hate anyone else but Kobe followed up by Vuj-a-bitch (who I dislike more but isn't worth hating) will get it done as my most hated players, well except for Wince.

I guess New York as league pioneers and Detroit could fit the bill.
But I think Philly should be considered as our ultimate foe. We fought them in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's.

Players I really despise: Bill Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas, Mo Cheeks.

PD: I don“t think Boston-LA is a rivalry. We usually meet in the Finals and beat the hell out of them. 9 out of 11, baby!!!!!!!!

In 2010 we'll have a Cavs rivalry. We will meet them again in the upcoming playoffs and considering the battles Pierce and James always have fought, this will be enough material for a modern rivalry. It's nothing traditional or historic. It's new and relevant.

I have to say this is a good idea and I'm glad you came up with this. However I have to say there hasn't been a "true" Rivalries in the NBA in a long time. I think the NBA needs Rivialries. If you ask me who is the Celtics rivalry right now? I would have to the Cavs and the Lakers. I consider those two teams as the a current day rivalry to Celtics because those are the ony two teams I could see standing in the Cs way to bannar 18.

I don't there really is a rivalry with any team.

I also don't have a most hated player just a bunch of players I don't like.

In the here and now, I have to go with the Cavs. They fought us hard in the ECF last year and presuming health on both sides we are looking forward to a hell of an ECF this coming season if the Cavs keep dominating like they've been dominating lately.

It will be considered a rivalry by the end of this season, if not before.
