i think you can make the argument (and i've seen it made on this forum) that al is becoming a center, especially in this league with a dearth of big men. what i think minnesota really needs a more defensive oriented big man because al is lacking in that regard. i think someone like tyson chandler next to big al would be fearsome, especially if you had a good facilitator and some good shooters.

So you basically just agreed with me and that Al isn't a Center. :P

I agree that they need a Tyson esque center to play with Al

Well, everyone blew the Brandon Roy thing. Even Ainge gave up the pick for Roy to get rid of LaFrenz. Besides, Foye wasn't so bad, when you consider that draft class. And everyone was high on Brewer when he came out. It's just that no one could foresee how much trouble he'd have on offense in the pros. But I think he'll develop into a decent defensive player. He's certainly athletic enough and even now plays pretty good D. And as for this year's draft, Kevin Love is a potentially very good big for Big Al to play with. So there is some talent there. It's just that they haven't figured out how to play winning ball.

But the bottom line is, Big Al is not a player an NBA team can win with alone. His offense is excellent, but the D is still lagging and you have to play D to win in this league. Some people here took great offense to my suggestion that Big Al is pretty much like Zach Randolph in the making, it's looking like I wasn't too far off after all.

I still think Minnesota would have been better off keeping Mayo and acquiring a defensive-minded Center. We'll see how this works out in a few years. I don't understand the firing as well. Minnesota doesn't have a very good team, so I don't see any reason to blame their coach.

the difference between center and power forward breaks down in practice. if al is put next to 6-9 defensive phenom like a young ben wallace you would call jefferson a center. if you put him next to chandler you probably would call him a forward. just like how ben wallace was a center in detroit and now is a pf becuase he plays next to big z.

regardless of whatever you want to call jefferson, i think people are being to hard on mchale on the mayo-love trade. criticize him for the joe smith signing but give this trade some time to pan out.

Umm... I think you got it wrong. The Walker trade set this WHOLE thing in motion. Two of the picks we obtained from the trade netted us West and Allen. Raef turned into Ratliff and then KG. So the trade was just the first domino to fall.

No actually you do. If you think like this then we have to credit Pitino with the championship. I mean he drafted Walker which led to the trade that led to the led to the trade that landed West and Allen. And so on..

it's just silly. Imagine some guy traded his beemer for a moped - and then traded that moped for $500 dollars of stock in a startup. That startup took off and he then sold that stock for 60k and bought a new Lexus. Would you say that he made a good trade for that moped?

Truth is had Danny got fair value for Walker with those pieces he might have gotten something good as well. Walker was later traded for Jason Terry and a first round pick? I think Danny could have turned that into something too.
