Ricky Davis
Well, looks like our old friend, Ricky Davis, might have been enjoying that Cali Kush a bit too much out in LA. Any thoughts on possibly bringing him back? I'd much rather have him on the team as opposed to Starbury since he's capable of guarding small forwards. He might have burned too many bridges after he was traded though.

Nah, I was a Ricky fan but he has really slipped in last couple of years. I doubt he is coming back.

Re: Ricky Davis
No thanks, Jiri Welsch played better defense then Ricky Davis. The guy showed his opponent a lane everytime. Plus he has no heart and seems to suck even worse then he did back then.

Damn, he must have done a 180 since leaving Boston. The guy never gave a crap about defense from what I remember, and he never. attacked. the basket. Ever. Brian Scalabrine probably got to the line at a higher rate than he did as a Celtic.

I played basketball once and a while with one of the Celtics ball boy (actually ball man to be exact because he is 26) He said that Davis smoked tons of weed, never listened to any of the coach and was a head case.

Re: Ricky Davis
The surprising thing is that Ricky made it this far in his career before getting his first drug offense. But everyone had to know that dude was a stoner, it was written all over his face and the way he carried himself. Not that I saying smoking a little weed is bad, but if you're a professional athlete smoking a little weed, well that's pretty bad, letting down your team, your teammates, etc....
I know it was a long time ago, but from what I remember Ricky played good defense, and actually listened to Doc Rivers for at least a season....but that eventually Ricky challenged Paul one too many times, talking crap behind his back, and then he was traded. But for a while, Doc got through to him and it's that communication ability which remains Doc's best feature as a head coach.

Re: Ricky Davis
something happened this season. He completely fell of the chair.
Bad or not no one can argue with the stats he put up. something like 20 ppg 50%fg 40%3s 5 assits per game
So far it's looking like Ainge should of signed Barnes for the vet min over Patrick O'Bust and Sam I Old

Re: Ricky Davis
ricky undermining pierce is a myth, a false rumor, they are still very good frends and attend a charity game every summer.
another thing is he was great here, 18 ppg 47 % shooting. and he would probably come real cheap and costs a little 2.3 mil a year for 2 years. we can trade scal and pruitt for him and free up a roster spot for that eventually big man were going to need to sign. and ricky davis would add a small forward to the backup spot which we dont have

Paul is friends with everyone, it doesn't mean Ricky didn't undermine his leadership in ways only Ricky can do (I'm not going to get into them). The 'rumors' of his undermining efforts were reported in multiple places from multiple sources, so I'm inclined to believe them....
Oh, and he probably would struggle on this team as well. He never learned to play offense in a team setting (he's great in isolation plays, though) and he'd be an ubuntu-killer if there ever was one, especially if his once-great athleticism hasn't been restored.

We had Dino Radja who chain smoker and we still.. ehhh.. yeah... scratch that thought. But hey. I did enjoy playing him in early versions of NBA live. Was even able to get him to play defense.

But back on topic. I liked Ricky when he was here. I think some of those undermining the team stuff was just damage control when people were criticizing the trade. But his career really hasn't gone anywhere since he left and I just don't see him being the type of role player we need off the bench.

Marbury and Davis are risks. If you are going to take a risk, take the one with a higher upside and plays a position of need. Pick Marbury.
