OT: Memphis and Sean

Post#1 » by GreenMachine » Thu Jan 8, 2009 12:59 am

Can anyone tell me what Memphis got out of this? They traded a second rounder for Sean and then cut him? It doesn't make sense... Was it really just get the 'cash considerations'?

Look at the top of the page. Wiretap. Sean Livingston. But does it matter? The question is, why would you trade a pick for someone (anyone) and then cut them the same day? They could have just 'sold' the pick like the Suns always do if all they were looking for is money. Just doesn't make sense...

Livingston. Purely financial reasons, just like all these other scrubs getting moved today.

But that is what I don't get... WHAT financial reasons? How did Memphis benefit here?

Ya, and? Memphis still gave up a pick for Nothing.

Ok - we can let this thread die now - it is clear no one knows the answer. Must be part of some anti- Celtic Conspiracy...

A couple days ago the Clippers acquired Cheikh Samb & cash considerations for a top 55 protected 2015 2nd round pick.

Memphis got cash back and the pick is a 2012 top 55 protected pick.

magic fan here and no im not trolling, just thought i'd take a crack at this one

non guaranteed deals become guaranteed for the rest of the season right around this time (i wanna say like the 7th or the 6th) so memphis acquired him, then waived him, only to sign him to a ten day contract in the coming days. the bigger question to me is, why would they do that when they have a plethora of PG's in conley, lowry, francis, and mayo (more sg but can play pg). maybe a deal is in the works. the two teams that need a back up pg actually are us (the magic), and you guys... maybe ainge or otis are working the phones
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

The pick is bogus it will never be transferred. The Heat paid the Grizz to take Livingston off their cap completely instead of having the 3 months of salary counting towards the Lux Tax.

^^So first the Grizz do a favor for the Lakers (give them Gasol for nothing) and then they help Miami clear cap space for one of Stern's binkies, Wade...and this doesn't raise eyebrows why?? (Unless I am misunderstanding it all??)
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Actually Wallace was Riley's GM in Miami before coming to Boston he brought Wallace into the NBA. He may be looking for a gig next season in someone's front office but I can bet it will not be POR.
