While the NBA might act against PLAYERS who screw up - they will sit on their hands after watching this Portland fiasco - guaranteed. Its too bad no one will sign Miles. I would love it..

If the Celtics had to cover the rest of Reggie Lewis' contract (God Rest His Soul) then there is no f-ing way David Stern should allow the Blazers to wiggle their way out of paying Miles.

I hope someone signs him and screws the Blazers. Hell the Celtics should resign him. Clearly the NBA will speak on this issue but if I had to guess I would say the NBA backs the Blazers. Here's my reasoning, the NBA likes change and up coming teams, especially teams with popular player (Roy, Oden, ect.) The league is probably hoping that the Blazers don't have to pay for this, because they want them to sign a big free agent.

The NBA responded to the letter the Blazers sent to the other 29 NBA teams threatening legal action if Darius Miles is signed this year.

"Under league rules, teams are free to sign Darius Miles to a Uniform Player Contract if they wish to secure his services as a player, and any such contract would be approved by the NBA," a statement from the NBA read

Didn't the Blazers get in trouble when their owner was talking smack about miles before the season started? How is this not 100 times worse then that?

Yes he did...he was impugning Miles' character and ability in order to deter teams from signing him...that was low but this seems worse somehow...

Wow, what a horrible, horrible organization. Here's hoping Oden wrecks his body once and for all, and the rest of them go the way of a certain Uruguayan soccer team. Just awful.

So if the Celtics have a roster spot open, and Miles could help (which he most certainly could), we can't look out for ourselves because it might hurt the poor little Blazers? Pathetic.

They pretty much said "If your sole intention is to screw us over by picking him up, we will screw you over." Let's be real, he can't help an NBA team. He was cut by us and couldn't get off the bench in Memphis, where they are pretty weak for SF/PF depth. The only legit reason for a team to sign him is to intentionally screw over the Blazers and that's not really right to them.

No. What is not right is denying Darius Miles his chance to play in the NBA. He hasn't gotten into trouble for awhile now. He has kept it clean, worked hard and has done everything right trying to get back into the NBA. And portland is saying no.

He got a chance with two teams. He's not NBA material anymore, Portland knows this, most teams know this, there isn't anything he has to contribute to an NBA team besides a wasted roster spot.

Huh? Do you know how many players are on NBA rosters that average less than 5 minutes per game and have double digit DNP's? Miles is no different than any of these players - should they be denied the right to work by the TrailBlazers as well?

Most of these players are mistakes or projects. No team's front office would sign a player they knew was going to be a mistake, like Miles, under ordinary circumstances.

Do you know how ridiculous you sound? "He got a chance with two teams" - yes, the defending CHAMPS & the memphis grizzlies. Boston would rather ride with its horses as Rivers has stated, and the grizzlies aren't any kind of judge of basketball player. They didn't play Kwame Brown at all after the trade last year and he's started a bunch of games for the Pistons this season. It's funny if you believe what you've written in your first post.

As a Grizzlies fan first and Celtics fan second - I have had a hard time seeing Miles situation spiral out of control. I know he would be on Boston roster if Pruitt didn't have some potential and if Cassel had just gone into retirement or O'Bryant wasn't so damn tall.

Grizzlies are foolish in my opinion to drop him. In his action against Minnesota he was flawless and forced a turnover on the Allstar Al Jefferson (you guys know him right?) :)

I have no idea what crack Chris Wallace is addicted to but he must have gotten death threats from Portland insiders otherwise.

You got to think he is a better player then POB right now.. <g> He might be a shadow of his former self but it still looks like he has NBA game. I do think Wallace caved into pressure to dump him..
