Bleh. Kapono would be useful, but not at that price. Posey was far more useful, because he could spot each of the Big 3 in some approximation of their roles. Kapono could do a good Ray impersonation, but not much else, and he'd probably struggle in the 2nd unit without a real playmaker.

If we're going to blow our money on a shooter, I'd much prefer a Ben Gordon type, someone who doesn't require a playmaker to get going.

Kapono's shooting isn't even as great as people assume and the lack of a better rounded offensive game means he doesn't likely attract as much defensive attention on the perimeter compared to slightly lesser shooter. With the exception of his contract year performance which came around 25/26 years old, his % has only been extremely high while shooting a relatively low quantity of threes, being selective in his attempts. When he was recently called on to start for the Raps and shoot a higher quantity, alongside Bosh & Calderon, he shot only around 40%. And he hasn't been overly impressive in other areas.

Now, he's an age where he can theoretically peak at any random time, but you add to the equation that his contract doesn't expire until after the big offseason of '10-11 (which might or might not be overrated), the risk reward just isn't in our favor here.

Ok, but Posey and Gordon are not available to Danny Ainge. Should we have kept Posey? It sure looks that way now, but Ainge has to do something to fix it. I don't know if Kapono is available. But if it's for a lesser package, I would pull the trigger on it.

Raps fan here, you guys do not want kapono. Hes a shooter, not a basketball player. That being said, Id give him up in a minute if Ainge was dumb enough to go after him.
