Give patrick obryant some minutes

Does anyone else see a lack of some serious size in our lineup?

I think giving Obryant some backup mins behind KG and Perk would be a big help for this team, not only is KG not 100% of late, he is without question starting to wear down. Which is to be expected, the Celtics have played by far the most games of any team since last year, not to mention how he presses in the backcourt everytimne we score, and the energy he plays with on every possesion.

Obryant has shown some signs of talent, and its not like hes going to be our # 1 option out there. But seriously he is 7 ft and has very good length. Doc should consider giving this man some time.

Well, I don't know if you have noticed but we have lost 7 of the last 9 games and I believe its Doc's job to keep these guys ready to play and there simply not doing it.

Maybe Doc needs to be benched beside POB, and give Tom Thibedeau a shot at the situation.

Well POB has a huge target saying "EXPLOIT ME ON DEFENSE" whenever he comes into the game. He's extremely poor on pick and roll D, fouling when he plays aggressive and sagging into useless no man's land when he plays them soft. He's also ground beef on the post; he's too weak to deny position, too slow-footed to cut off the face-up drive and too flighty to avoid skying for upfakes.

He's also a moving pick waiting to happen, and roughly half of entry passes to him in the post get picked off.

This is all a dirty crying shame because his jumper is soft and steady, he's got great timing to go with his length to block shots, he can finish with some authority and he's got solid hands and a soft touch with his hooks, flips and turnarounds within 12 feet.

Maybe with some seasoning he'll be able to put those tools to good use. Just not quite yet. He has looked a bit better lately.

Here's some interesting stuff for you guys (I don't see much of the Celtics games) but it appears that O'Bryant's biggest issues (when playing) are his turnover's and his fouling a lot. But aside from that, here's some interesting statistics for you:

FG % = 61.9% (up from last years 55.2%), ft% 72.7% (up from last years 60%)

per stats: 18.3 ppg (up from 12.7 last year) 13.4 rpg (up from last year's 10.5), 2.7 bpg (down from last years 3.3).

So, his two biggest problems it seems (looking further into his per stats) as mentioned are his 7.0 turnovers and 11.8 fouls per 36 minutes. I would think that those two negatives can be improved upon considerably (with more playing time perhaps). Turnovers and fouls are two things that experience makes a big difference with. These are also two areas which one can be coached in.

BTW, FWIW, POB's fg% and per #'s for rebounds and blocks are the HIGHEST on the Celts team at the juncture and his 18.3 ppg would be slightly less than Paul Pierce's team leading 18.9. Go figure.

Maybe a little more playing time might be in order for him. It would certainly help KG and even Perkins get some needed rest (as well as Powe and Big Baby who are probably getting pretty beat up themselves having to play all the backup Center minutes). If O'Bryant could cut back on the turnovers (I really don't feel the fouls are that serious since they show he's willing to mix it up underneath and you really don't care that much about how many fouls he gets) he might be able to save these guys a little bit down the road (those fouls he gets will probably mean less fouls for the other guys).

I'm not saying that Patrick can necessarily make all that much of a difference, just that he can possibly help.

I know that. I want POB to play some minutes, I jus know it's not going to happen because Doc is stuborn. Play the kid about 10 minutes a game. Let's see what happens, we are losing anyways. He can only help.

Pruitt was doing decent and House was sucking again. So Doc benched Pruitt and kept on playing House. Great move. I'm excited that Walker and Giddens got called up, got Doc won't play them either for a while.

When Ainge brought the Big 3 together, he also added pieces like Posey, Cassell, Brown, and House. But he also brought in coaching help and added Tom T. Our defense became the best in the league.

I can see POB getting some court time if we bring someone like Marbury as the backup PG. POB is a better finisher around the hoop than Davis, not tp mention Marbury will make him look much better.
