Some of the logic is strange to me. I understand that Min got the best package that was offered to them, but why does this make it a good deal? If the best deal the Celtics get for Paul P is Aleksandar Pavlovic, is it really a good deal?

I understand why Min took it, but KG was not going to stop playing if he stayed in Min. They received less value than they received. It wasn't even really close. But congrats to you, it's a great core you have built, fun to watch!

are you comparing Al Jefferson, 2 first round picks, cap relief, and a couple solid role players to...Aleksandar Pavlovic...?
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

My point was that I didn't like the logic of "it was the best available offer." Just because it was the best available offer does not make it a valid or good or fair trade, that was my point. Aleksander Pavlovic was my example of a trade that may be the best available but still not a good trade. In no way was I ever comparing KG to Paul P or Aleksandar P to what you gave the TWolves.

It might have been the best offer, but it's debatable. The Lakers were rumored to offer Bynum and Odom. The Warriors reportedly offered Ellis and the 8th pick. There were some other really good offers out there.

Obviously Boston and Minnesota had different objectives in terms of short and long term success, so I think the winner or loser of the trade needs to be measured against what teams thought they were getting.

Boston thought they were getting a current superstar, in order to win one or more championships. I think Boston got what they were expecting/hoping to get.

For me, the measure of Minnesota success/failure on the trade is Gerald Green. They knew they were getting a couple of rotation players with Gomes and pistol boy, but they were promoting at the time that they were getting 2 future all stars in Jefferson and Green. No matter how it turns out in the end, there was a big mis-read in terms of what they were expecting to get.

But that being said, I would think Minnesota would still be happy with the trade. As good as KG is, without a supporting cast he wasn't successful in his final years in Minnesota, and likely wouldn't have been if they kept him.
