Like the Knicks and Nets, the Pistons are all about accumulating mega cap space for the two upcoming classes of free agents. So hooked on economics is Dumars, an agent testifies, he was prepared to deal treasured Tayshaun Prince for Stephen Jackson (or maybe it was Ron Artest) whose contract was set to terminate after next season. When the Warriors committed to New Jack City for a three-year extension, Detroit's purported proposal came off the table. "That's absolutely false! I'm not trading Prince, period," Dumars fumed. New York Post

It's from the NY Post, so take it for what it's worth.

If this is true, the original proposal seems plausible. I guess my question now would be, would Ainge make the call?

I personally think it would be extremely difficult to make the change at this point in the season - and it's pointless in the offseason (Cs can possibly sign Sheed with MLE). But damn, I wonder whether Ainge would consider it...

If I were Ainge, I would quickly hangup the phone believing it to be a prank call. Maybe I call Dumars and ask him whether or not he'd just called me. Of course, he tells me no and adds that it was likely Billups messing around with you.

Putting aside that this would make no sense whatsoever for Detroit, this is actually good for Boston. A Garnett/Rasheed frontcourt would be an absolute monster both offensively and defensively. That said, both Rasheed and Rip are crazy, so there may be some offset in that regard. But like VWoodruff said, there is no reason for either team to make such a big move at this point in the season, especially the Celtics

No.

Ainge would just hang up the phone.

I love how Joe has to throw in a 2nd rounder.

While this makes no sense for DET, it doesn't make a ton of sense for Boston either.

The beauty of Ray is that he is a guy capable of scoring 30ppg in the position to score 18ppg. I know people like to blow smoke up Rips ass but he isn't in Ray's league he is an 18ppg guy in any position.

Most importantly Rip is awful right now and Sheed's numbers may be okay but he looks like the tin man on the court. Ray is shooting 50% from the field and shooting 3's like they are FT's. On paper all of Steve Kerr's moves look great from a fantasy perspective and he has turned a 60 win contender into a possible trip to the lottery.

I don't think DET would do it anyhow but I don't think this is a move Boston would or should make. You break it up if you come up short, not in the middle of a title defense.

I guess I am stupid.
