I'd do this in a heart beat and I already have a post suggesting tony for grant hill straight up, but getting noah would be nice. I think he could develop into a very good big man, especially with clifford ray. I'm not interested in nesterovic. If we can't get something done I'd just as soon keep baby and powe and look to add a player in the offseason. I like both those guys and if we had a legit big man to play with them then they would play better. One of the things I always like on a championship team is a post up player who can get to the line. Cedric Maxwell was that guy on the early 80's teams and Leon is a guy who gets to the line. He needs to improve his FT shooting but between him and Baby ( who I also love) if I had to choose I would pick leon because of his post up abilities. sooner or later Danny probably has to send one of them packing.

The thing with Battier is he is very expensive for his production. All well and good when you are paying Ron Artest 7 million bucks but one way or another that is coming to an end this season. His role in the offense is diminished to a 3 pt specialist. Because his contract goes into 2010 he is not going to be any easier to trade especially if his production deteriorates. He has had some injuries this season but I just think he is essentially rotation overkill on a team with a bunch of SFs and undersized PFs.

With Battier you are buying the last 3 years of Posey instead of the next 3 years. He is a good 3/4 guy who appears to be stuck playing a lot more 2/3. The Rockets lack of health may make them reluctant to make a move, but they might be better with TA on the wing and they are the type of team that could make use of Scal for another season. I don't see them having any interst in any of our non rotation guys so it would have to be a draft pick compensation situation. It must be really difficult to be a GM in a place like HOU right now, you win two games and you have home court in the 1st round, you lose two and your scouting lottery picks.

When you have a trade for Battier or Artest and the players going to HOU you're just making a trade to rape HOU.

Screwing the other team isn't creative, it's something everyone tries to do.

I wouldn't look at it as screwing the other team. In this case I would expect some sort of draft pick compensation going HOU's way. But Battier is avg 6 ppg in 32 mins Tony is avg 8 in 19. If you look at the numbers and the money there is no reason to make this trade for Boston. But the key to me is that Boston has go to figure out how to shrink its rotation. At this point we essentially need a 12 man rotation to fill in all the gaps matchup wise, we tend to look for a someone who is a combo of Tony and Eddie, Battier is combo of Tony and Scal.

a guy i'd like to get is Tyson Chandler. Still young,a 7 footer, and plays D. New Orleans wants to deal but I figure they would rather trade Peja,Posey,or Mo Pete before Chandler....

Noah and Battier aren't getting traded..

Boston has the ability to get guys like Grant Hill, Jeff Foster, Nick Collison, Tim Thomas, and Ainge better do something cause this current roster's not enough...

I still think Marbury will be released in the next few weeks. The Players Association is starting to speak up now about his situation.

The only hope the celtics have is that Joe smith and Marbury are bought out and want to play here; in my mind that has no chance of happening.

People on here are just way to convinced that Ainge can magically make a trade or sign someone that will fix the many problems this team has.

While I usually mock Joe for his constant negativity, I agree with him here...

i know it sucks being the best defensive team and 4th best offensive team and 30 games over .500. Maybe if we package some draft picks together we can trade everyone away and get under the cap.

This is possibly a time where a team could make a huge mistake and stick their roster with an albatross trying to do too much when there really isn't a big move to be made. The C's are still a top 5 team in the league right now, an honest threat to win another ring, and actually did have winning streaks that other teams would kill for so far this season. The sky isn't falling, and the C's shouldn't make any big moves as if it were. They are in a nice position cap-wise for the future when this P-G-A train comes to a halt. If anything, they really don't need to drop anyone or overpay someone... just keep trying to improve on what they have already. Just my opinion, but they have enough talent right now to win another championship.

I get what you're saying, but most of the trades mentioned in this thread are small ones and not albatrosses. Doc has already admitted (as has Wyc) that the Celtics need to add something to their bench and if who they want isn't bought out, a trade must be made if the Celtics expect to defend their title.

sully, I agree with your sarcasm, but we *do* need some help or else the starters are going to be burned out by the playoffs...

LittleJ03 wrote:* Before The Dealine End Best Idea So Far If Houston Rockets Are Interest On The Deal..

Boston Celtics Send

PF- Brain Sclabrine
SG- Tony Allen
SG- J.R. Gidden Or Patrick O'Bryant
& Cash ( 2.7 Million )

Get In Return From The Houston Rockets

Ron Artest

Reason For This Deal Is Getting A Star Player That Could Play Defence On Kobe Bryant And Etc..In The Playoff Give Ray Allen & Paul Pierce Think About Offence Only & Will Also Give Free Spot To Sign Any Available Player That Will Help The Team..

* Send J.R Gidden Back The D-League w/ Bill Walker & Gabe Pruitt For More Space & Keep Them Around For Future Player

* Sign Stephon Marbury After Himself & The New York Knicks Agree For A Buyout..And Put Stephon Marbury On Six Man

* Sign Joe Smith After The Buyout..Be A Great Fit In The 2 Team

So After That We Do Have A Great Team w/ Player With Talent, Scoring, Defence And Etc..But There Still More To Come..

This Is The Line Up After The Sign & Trade

PG- Rajon/Marbury/Cassell
SG- Ray/House/Joe
SF- Paul/
PF- Garnett/David/Powe
C- Perkin/

* Still Need More Player In Center Area & Good Power Forward Player So We Have To Go After In The Retire & Free Agency Area

Free Agency

Bonzi Well - SF *
Robert Horry - PF *
Antonie Walker - PF ( Maybe Sign ) Because He Doesnt Like Goin Up & Down. * Over Weight * In My Notes
Retire Player

Chris Webber - SF/PF
Reggie Miller - SG/SF
P.J. Brown - PF/C
Alonzo Mouning - PF/C

* The Ones With The Star Are More Chance To Come In The Team With A Good Contact Deal For Both Party

* The Retire Player Are So Hard To Get Back In The NBA Style But There Alway One Day They Want To Come Back And This Is The Best Chances To Get A Ring And End Up In A Good Year After The Season Is Over Right..

So After All Those Ideas Hopefully This Will Be The Lineup For The Boston Celtics This Year

PG- Rajon/Marbury/Cassell
SG- Ray/House/Joe
SF- Paul/Bonzi/Reggie
PF- Garnett/David/ Horry Or Webber Or Both
C- Perkin/Powe/ P.J Or Mouning Or Or Both

And We Get Both Trade Powe And David For Draft Picks For This Year Or Next Year Or Etc Future Pick

1- when sending playerd down to d league they still part of your team. does not clear space for others to come.
2. a team with marbury house bonzi/miller davis/joe pj/powe would be amazing for the second string.
but would never happen
