Cavs Lose

Post#1 » by Triple M » Wed Feb 11, 2009 2:40 am

I happened to catch the end of the Cavs/Pacers game. It ended in the most bizarre ways I've ever seen a game end.

TJ Ford hits a mid range jumper with 0.8 seconds putting Indy up 2
out of the timeout Cle throws a lob to LBJ
the ball gets deflected but they call a foul on Granger
so LB goes to the line for 2 and makes both
0.4 left and Indy runs the same play Cle just ran and gets a similar call

Both calls seem very questionable and it just a terrible way to end a game.

They were almost EXACTLY the same play---nice to see the refs make the 2nd call for Indy---I guess they wanted to get out of that arena alive.

Pacers have now beaten Boston, LA, and Cleveland...

I actually think Granger/Ford/Hibbert is a decent core for the future.

Truly a bizarre ending. I was PO'ed when they made that nonsense call on Granger (replay showed that it was a good defensive play). Figured the refs were handing the game to the Lebrons. All's well that ends well, as they say.

Temporarily gives us best record in the east. Now if only those stinking Lakers would lose a couple.

Not a Pacer fan--but it's hard not to root for this hard luck franchise--especially with Obie and Bird there....and when they're playing the Cavs or Lakers.!

I'm glad the refs called the calls the same in both cases. That's they way it should be.

Both calls were terrible, but they ended up canceling each other out fortunately. The ending to that game may have been one of the few times that a makeup call actually made up the bad call that came before it. The Cavs still cried like spoiled brats after the game. I hope Mike Brown gets fined at least $50,000 for the comments he made after the game. Hey Mike Brown, the game was given to you before it was taken, so quit your crying. Here are few comments from him and Lebron after the game:

"That last call on LeBron [James] was the worst call that I've ever been a part of. It was an awful call and for him to take away a basketball game from a team with .04 seconds on the clock is irresponsible," Brown said. "We got the game taken away from us, absolutely horrible. I feel badly for the guys in the locker room."

On the previous possession, just fractions of a second earlier, Granger was whistled for a similar foul while guarding James. The foul allowed LeBron to hit two foul shots to tie the game.

After the game, James admitted that the first of the two game-changing fouls was questionable.

"I thought the one call on Granger against me was questionable. There was definitely some contact, enough for a whistle to be blown... But it could have gone both ways. The last call against me was not questionable at all. No contact was made. The pass was short. You couldn’t go to the rim," James said. "There was no way he could catch it and go up with four-tenths of a second. I was able to get a hand on it. Being the competitor I am, to have a game taken away like that, it hurts. It definitely hurts."
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

Wow---if Doc Rivers got fined $15,000 for the things he said---Mike Brown should get kicked out of the league for his comments....Imagine what Brown would have said if The Pacers had 6 guys on the court!

And true...but it won't happen. Just another case of the league's anti-Celtics bias, year 59 and counting...

And I am *shocked* questionable calls at the end of a game did NOT go CLE's way..what's the world coming to?
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
