Fisher took a pay cut to join the Lakers.. I dont think he expected to play NBA ball again when he left Utah..

LA and NY probably have the best medical facilities.. So joining LA was natural..

If u have seen anyone have eye ailments or cancer u will know how crazy it can be .. and this is eye cancer we are talking about.. It can spread to the brain and kill the person in days...

Classy for the Jazz, sure, but not necessarily for Fisher...

And no, I'm not a heartless SOB...

New York and LA I believe I want to say she has cancer in her eye that may make her go blind. He asked them to void a contract worth over 6 mil knowing he couldn't get that much in FA. The Lakers also appeared to be imploding when he re-signed there with Kobe demanding a trade. But if you want to pick on the baby girl with cancers daddy be my guest.

Dude, I have nothing against the child, I wish her nothing but the best and I remember being very sad and concerned when hearing about this a couple years ago. I just still think it's rather suspicious Fisher magically ended up back in LA...

Derek Fisher is OFF the Topic of this thread,

but there was more than a bit suspicious there.

Please read this section in its entirety before commenting negatively.

Fisher signed a long term contract with Utah,
who suddenly had no use for Derek Fisher since they played Deron Williams 40 mpg.

Obviously they want to dump Fisher,
since they don't need a $6 million dollar per year backup for 8 mpg,
but then Utah might have to take back a player they don't want,
and Fisher may end up someplace he doesn't want.

Kobe is begging for Fisher to come to LA,
Fisher is ready to tear up the contract and sign for less
to be back in a city he loves with a team that wants and needs him.

After the end of the season, but a few weeks before the draft,
Derek Fisher's daughter is diagnosed with what might be cancer in the eye,
he requests out of his contract to get treatment,
Utah lets Fisher out of his contract, making him a free agent,
without Utah having to take any salary back,
and Fisher goes to LA,
and in 6 weeks, she is out of treatment and cured.

Fisher signs with LA, we all know the rest.

What's fishy is the timing of the diagnosis (after the season, before the draft),
the circumstances of Utah not needing him on the court
and him not wanting to be traded to Timbuktu,
the announcement that his daughter might have cancer in the eye,
the ability of Utah to get out of 4 years at $6 million per year,
and the magical, god-like cure for his daughter in 6 weeks of treatment.

Teams and players don't normally tear up contracts
(although the Clippers essentially did 6 weeks after signing
Jason Williams when he announced his retirement and they let him,
thus making him a free agent).

But Derek Fisher's getting out of Utah sure had the looks of something
that was convient for both sides without simply tearing up a contract.

And yes, I did see the television special about his daughter,
which if you caught the nuances of the description,
might have been cancer.
