Phoenix is looking to unload Amare, Shaq, and anyone else to get them under. We can provide them with a future hall-of-famer with a few years left in the tank. His contract expires in 10 along with the others which is what Phoenix wants. they won't get anything better for Shaq then Ray Allen.
I would NOT trade Ray for Shaq straight up but the way i proposed the deal I would because we have Hill and Barnes would be good fits

you can go big w/ Pierce, Barnes, Hill, KG, and either Shaq or Perk because Hill is a point forward type of player. you can go small with rondo, barnes or house, hill, pierce, and powe. so many options...
You have Shaq and KG (two of the 4 most intimidating players on the planet) on the court at the same time. that ALONE will scare the crap out of teams...Seriously..The ONLY team that would have a chance against us would be the Spurs. I say the Spurs because they don't back down against anyone...but even still, shaq, kg, perk vs Duncan, bonner, oberto? seriously? I take us.

Shaq can run well enough to play for the Celtics. It's not like we're Golden State.

I figured we don't have what it takes to get Amare (sorry CFan, I don't want to be without a point guard) and Nash is not available, so I figured Shaq would be the guy to go after. I was never a Shaq fan until he left LA (okay, not until he joined my fantasy team), but he is still good for 20/10 any night.

WIth Perk and Shaq neither would have to play a ton of minutes or fear foul trouble. I just wonder if the Suns would want Ray with Jason Richarson on the roster, but Richardson can play SF.

ddb post this on the Suns board, I am wonder what they would say.

If you don't mind posting it that would be great. Tied up at work.
I think Ray Allen fits in great with Phoenix. Nash, R. Allen, Richardson covering the 1,2,and 3 is bombs away. Ray could score 27pg there.
Then you have Tony Allen off the bench who I think would be a great backcourt partner with Barbosa. You take a flyer on Giddens who could end up being a solid player and you get Big Baby and Scal who are proven rotation guys. After 2010 you have all the money in the world when those contracts expire.
If I were Phoenix I would ALSO trade Amare for Marion and Beasley.

Nash, R. Allen, Richardson, Marion, Beasley, Barbosa, T. Allen, Scal, Baby, Amundson, r. Lopez isn't a bad rotation at all.

Marion and R. Allen off the books soon. Isn't this exactly what Phoenix wants?

lmao

Ray/Rondo for amare.

2 KEY starters on a championship caliber team for a guy who would end up being a 6th man.

Amare wouldn't even start over perkins because you'd be giving up way too much defensively.
And you'd start him over KG? LOL.

You do not shake up the keys to your core when you are a championship contender. Maybe you add to it, but you don't try to remove then replace two of your four best players. You just don't. Value wise it's even, but it's a video game trade. You don't do that in real life.

But Shaq being Shaq, well, he isn't going to dodge the issue. So when asked for his thoughts on the MVP race, O'Neal didn't hesitate.

"The Kobester," he said, referencing his old teammate and occasional foil, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers. "He's an assassin, with LeBron [James] coming in right behind. After that, I really haven't been paying attention."

Ah, duh. How about Chris Paul, for instance?

So some brave soul raised the possibility that the guy across the hall in TD Banknorth Garden - no name was needed - might be in the discussion as well. O'Neal shook his head. No way.

"I'm going to have to go with my guy before him," he said, motioning to Stoudemire's locker. "All day, every day."

When O'Neal was done speaking to the media mass, I went over and asked him if I had heard what I thought I heard. Did he really say he'd take Stoudemire over Garnett, especially after Garnett had put a Ziploc bag on Stoudemire in the second half? We know that one of Shaq's missions in Phoenix is to bump up Stoudemire, but this seemed to be a bit far-fetched.

"They've got the same numbers," O'Neal said. "Yeah, I would."

For MVP? This year?

"Yeah."

But Garnett is anchoring the best defensive team in the NBA and has totally transformed the Celtics.

"Garnett doesn't play defense," Shaq said.

After that, what was there to say? What games have you been watching this season? Garnett doesn't play defense?

Garnett is probably not going to win the MVP Award, but it's not because he doesn't play defense. And that's not going to stop the thousands at TD Banknorth Garden from chanting, "M-V-P, M-V-P," when he's at the free throw line. As Paul Pierce noted after last night's game, "The whole face of the Celtics turned around when the trade happened with this guy. Everyone talks about the MVP and they talk about numbers [hello, Shaq], but this guy has changed the whole culture around here, and I think that says a lot for everything."

Garnett, of course, couldn't care less about the MVP than winning his first NBA title, which would surprise no one. Asked about the chants last night, he quickly turned to Pierce and said, "My MVP is sitting next to me." You'll hear no campaigning from him.
