Re: All-Star Saturday Night Thread
Oh, and that was the worst slam dunk contest ever. There was literally one really good dunk. Hopefully LeBron joining next year will attract some more stars to join. LeBron vs Vince might make up for this abomination.

I liked the kryptonite act, except the dunks were weak.

Kryptonite was awesome.
3 for 5 in my picks. the other two got to the finals.
Dwight should have saved the superman act for last, the phone booth and everything.

I thought the whole Superman thing was lame the first time, now it's just ridiculous with the kryptonite BS.

I agree that the whole gimmicks thing is played out. Just get to real good dunks.
Lebron, J-Rich, Vince. Howard.

Where was the big three? I didn't see them at any festivities this weekend. Though, there was a funny picture on the general board of ray taking a pic of ai's shaved head.

Really sad All-Star saturday. The three point contest was boring, they really need to start getting more All-Stars to join this thing....nobody cares about Daequan Cook, Roger Mason Jr, etc. The dunk contest was lack lusters as well. Nate's finals were very impressive, but other than that nothing good.
And if I have to hear Kenny Smith announce another one of these things, I may put my head through my front window.

I've been so bored of the slam dunk contest that I decided not to watch it this year. It's just not entertaining IMO.

Re: All-Star Saturday Night Thread
Watching these events was like having my eyes play a game of Horse except the word wasn't horse, it was Boring. The three-point shootout had too many missed shots--no one really got hot or could sustain it. The slam dunk contest was interesting when all four competitors went up. But, Howard's early dominance in the scoring turned me off. That was rubbish. Robinson saved my interest with the St. Patrick's Day New York uniform with the apt renaming of Kritonite. That was appropriate and cool. But, I can do without the afterwards dancing by one or two of them. Made me think I was watching a touchdown celebration. Question. How was Robinson the perceived underdog when he has already won this event before? I don't know, but I feel by some of the fan reactions or their silence. Howard failed to bring down the house like last year. I honestly was unimpressed by every dunk he did except the one where he threw it off the side of the backboard. The dunk on the raised backboard was lame in the sense that the guy's close to seven feet. Yes, he can jump impressively. But, his height gives him an added advantage in something like this. I mean he isn't supposed to miss that dunk. Did you see how easy it was for him? I'm thinking: Did he even jump? Because it wasn't by much. Again, if you extend your arms that's lessening the amount of effort placed on your vertical. The fans in attendance were dumbfounded. I thought he was upset that he couldn't do it again but much higher. And if he takes off his jersey top to show off for the camera one more time. Yes, we get it. You've an awesome physique. That... And Kenny Smith's annoying as hell commentary. Jesus, shut up already. Damn. Talk, talk and more talk. Hey, aren't you supposed to be talking about what's actually going on live. Kenny is as annoying to listen to as Cornbread when he does color or whatever he calls himself doing.
The skills competition was alright but most of them moved like they'd all the time in the world. Why time them then?
The event with the NBA, WNBA and retired players is awful. It was nice to see Thunder Dan, though.
Oh, the Horse game was interesting. But, ultimately it's an unnecessary addition, in my opinion. Cool. But, not a must have event next year.
So, LeBron finally will compete in a slam dunk contest. Awesome. But, who would challenge him? I think Robinson should go out on top and not do it again. This was his best showing since his first time in it. Ditto for Howard. However, fans will clamor for LeBron versus Howard. So, I'll say that Howard returns one more time. Because LeBron could change his mind if he doesn't see a challenge. Now who rounds out the four. I don't think Vince or Kobe would be up for it. I don't know... LeBron and Howard sells itself. But, a third big name star would be insane.

I think the horse competition has potential but it only works if you put personalities out there. Put Gilbert Arenas out there and it would be pretty damn funny (he had a 3 point competition with Deshawn stevenson on youtube that is pretty hilarious). You can't put 3 really quiet guys out there.

Seriously. Why does he do this so much?
I understand changing into Superman and everything, but then on his final dunk he took off his jersey to reveal...a skin-tight jersey? All I could think of was, does this guy stand in front of his mirror posing all day or what? Really didn't get the point of that. His off-the-backboard dunk was impressive, but Gerald's windmill version was better back when he won it. I thought the best dunk was Pau-to-Rudy, but it just took too many attempts for them to nail it I guess.
Agree that Nate should quit while he's ahead. He's already been in 4 of these things now. I'd like to see Gerald back in there (his elevation is ridiculous), but he's surprisingly limited with what he can do given his lift and hang time.

Awful weekend. I didn't realize horse was on so early so I missed it but caught the other stuff. Not impressed at all.
