All Ainge is going to say is that:
There are no trades in the works.
His team has the best record in the NBA and does not see need for any changes.

Re: WEEI named R. Wallace, Camby and Stoudemire in rumors
I listened to Ainge and it was pretty vanilla, and of course the idiots on the Big Show in the effort to sound like reporters turned the interview into something along the lines of an internet chat with the fact that they do not understand NBA trade rules or contracts or even what a buyout is. Ordway is okay though he doesn't really understand NBA trade rules he is at least cautious not to tread there Sheppard and Burton were horrendous as usual, anyway.
One interesting thing Ainge let slide is that he is looking to open up another roster spot, and that is all he expects before the deadline. Didn't deny the reported interest in Raja Bell but didn't think that Boston had what CHA wanted.
Clearly expects some movement on buyouts after the deadline. Said he tried to trade for Joe Smith since he was sent to OKC but could not work out the numbers and obviously OKC did pretty well for itself.
There was no Camby talk, but one thing I keep finding odd is the concept that Camby does not appear to be available. While still a great player this makes no sense whatsoever for the Clippers on its face. They have two significantly younger and more expensive front court players they literally can't give away. Why not try at least try and get out of the 34 year old Camby's money for next season? The Clips aren't likely to morph into contenders and have money issues at the best of times.
I wonder if Camby is going to get bought out. I wonder if he would rather give up next year's 11 mil, get to a contender for a playoff run and be a FA this offseason. He likely can't replace the 11 mil but he could probably land a 3 or 4 year MLE deal that may not be there in the '10 offseason. Pipe dream sure but maybe a chance.

Interesting regarding the other roster spot..
i understand the Cassell spot as its very likely Marbury is coming to Boston soon... but i wonder if Ainge has his eye on anyone else getting bought out, surely there cant be that many decent big men teams would be willing to just let go.

I also wonder who is the player Ainge is looking to simply unload for a roster spot. Giddens comes to mind but would be difficult and I don't see him just unloading Baby or Powe. That leaves Pruitt and O'Bryant and that would seem risky to just dump either one without having a replacement available, while not playoff quality, they are better than D league guys.

Giddens will be traded for as high a draft pick as Ainge can get as a last resort. He will wait to the very end of the trade deadline to do so. IMO.

What about a real simple trade with Philly, Theo Ratliff for JR Giddens. Would you do it?

I wouldn't hate that idea same team also has and does not use Donyell Marshall, who may have nothing left but is 6'9" actually a pretty capable defender in the right matchup and can shoot the 3.

Marshall or Ratliff for Giddens would seem like a upgrade for the Celtics but not sure Philly would want to help Boston out.

speaking of sixers, I suppose we don't have the contract ballast for Dalembert.

It's only fair that since Ratliff helped us get KG that the Celtics should bring him back and give him a chance at a championship. Right?

If Camby has an agent, this one isn't happening. I just can't see any NBA player giving up the $7-8 million guarantee (assuming there was some money left on the table by the Clips as well) when he could easily blow out his knee in the playoffs and be done forever.
Occam's razor says the Clips are just that dumb.

That is really tempting. it's not really a Danny kind of deal, because Theo is on his last legs and Giddens has potential to bring more. Also, Ratliff was waived by Minnesota and Detroit also let him go. Nevertheless, this team really needs to concentrate on defending the title, and I think we already have a number of decent young players who aren't going to get many minutes this year and next.
So... an experienced shot blocker who can put a body on Dwight and Ilgauskas? Yeah, I think I'd do that.

Marcus Camby has made $80 million bucks and hasn't made it out of the first round in 8 seasons.
Obviously there is a huge element of risk in the move but ask yourself if you were in that situation and looking at essentially another year and a half of sub 20 wins and watching the postseason on TV in essentially the end of your big time years what would you do? My guess in the end it would cost him 5 mil.
Your point is absolutely understood and one can never connect a dot with the Donald Sterling. That said at this point Marcus Camby is irrelevant, I think the chance to do something about that, especially back East were he is from and frankly his rep is spotty at best, is worth risking a few bucks to make it possible.

Theo for Giddens would be pretty good but I dont see Philly helping us at all since they are going to make the playoffs. Now I wonder if Charolette would do Giddens for Juwan Howard, he and KG our boys.

As much as you read that Ainge supposedly is trying to trade Giddens. The more I wonder can he play in the NBA. It just seems to me too soon to give up on him. If not for Bill Walker, fans would really be inquisitive about Giddens. There really hasn't been any attention put on him except that he could be traded.
