Joe, RI: Does Joe Smith get bought out and go to Boston now?

John Hollinger: (3:05 PM ET ) It would appear that way. OKC can save itself a few ducats with a buyout, and the Celtics and Smith would be ecstatic to join up for the league minimum.

Matt (Ohio): Why would Joe Smith go to Boston when he played with the Cavs last year? Is it possible he'd sign with Cleveland and play there and fill a need as a big off the bench like he did last year?

John Hollinger: (3:13 PM ET ) Smith and Garnett are tight from their Minnesota days, so that's the connection.

Based on how much "knowledge" Hollinger has with those stupid **** "stats" he always uses, I'd take it with a grain of salt, but I hope he's right!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

To be fair, in this chat he is getting very inside info on all the trades right up to the minute they happen, well before they are released into the press... so i wouldnt be surprised if hes right about smith

but yeh, normally hes nothing too reliable

True, but that's what we thought last year too. And he carried us in game 7 against the Cavs.

id like to have pj back too, but he says he is definitely retired...and i think our defense is pretty solid, joe and steph give the offensive boost our bench has lacked so im good with adding those guys

Man if we get Steph and Joe ......... !! Damn!!

Assuming Steph plays like himself, he and Leon could hook up well.

Eddie will get nice looks.

And Joe Smith can play a nice pick and roll game with Marbury.

... oh and Tony Allen just stands on opposite side of ball, lol.

Picture: Tony and House on both 45's, and Smith setting a screen up top to Marbury, who then penetrates, and can either:

- kick it House for 3, if defender collapses
- drop it back to Smith for the mid-range
- continue driving and draw Leon's defender and drop it to him for 2pts

Utilise all of their strengths.

Well the Hollinger interview is the best thing the Celtics have going because without the Garnett connection, the Celtics look like they lose out. I would think with all of the national talk about how Cleveland blew it by not securing anything with Sczcerbiak's expiring contract, they would be extra motivated to sign Smith especially that it was a big player they were looking for. Smith played there last year and the Cavs have the full mid-level exception to throw at him and Boston has less than 1/2 should it come down to a bidding war. I think Smith is the best fit for what the Celtics need, but I've always liked Mikki Moore as a backup center and I was surprised he didn't get a chance to stick 5 or 6 years ago when the Celts had him and then let him go shortly thereafter. So if we get left at the altar again like McDyess, I wouls like to get Moore.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

After making two trades that bumped its roster to 16 players, the Thunder is expected to waive seldom-used reserve center Mo Sene, according to a league source with knowledge of the team’s plans. NBA teams are allowed to carry only 15 players, and the acquisition of Thabo Sefolosha and Malik Rose pushed the Thunder’s roster over the limit

That is a big surprise! Why Sene? They need to buy out Smith not waive a young player... :-?

I understand your thinking, but if you have to choose between Smith and Moore, one would be a fool to not pick Smith!
