This post is an insult to Celtic players. Of course we can beat them. But we don't want to just beat them, we want to annihilate them. So a couple of choice players would allow us to do that.
By the way, I think Cav's are more of a problem.

I pretty much knew nothing was going to be done at the deadline, we had nothing to trade with. It sucks that we have to rely on buyouts to add depth. I think Marbury will remain a Knick this year, and I really hope we can land Smith. The bench is just unreliable.... House is a shooter, which means he's streaky, and can come and go in a playoff series. Allen is just garbage and is out for a while. Pruitt has shown flashes but nothing too impressive. Powe has disappointed me with is play this year, same with Davis....

That's true! We are so focused on a re-match with the Lakers that we have overlooked the Cav's. That is why the Celtics need to add some depth to their bench in the next week or so in preparation for a possible rematch with the Cav's in the playoffs.
As fans, we need to focus attention on other players who may be bought out of their contracts in the next few days and not talk only about Smith and Marbury.

Agreed. There are a lot of guys that will be bought out, so Ainge has to keep his ears open and his wits about him and get something done. This current team with no additions will not get past the Cavs in the ECF.

I think we can beat the Cavs and Fakers with what we have if Rondo is consistently good and KG sparks up to his usual outstanding level of play. Do not underestimate what Paul, Ray and KG can accomplish.
Having said that, our task will be much much easier if we can get Smith and/or Starbury. Do not underestimate Danny Ainge.
Joey Joey Joey - I would have fallen off the chair I am sitting on had you not jumped the gun again and assumed the worst. LOLOLOL. Also, tonight, if we fall behind by 10 in the first half, please, please do not say the game is over, and we should just concede. Try thinking realistically but with a positive spin for a change.

I'd never doubt the big three, but if we go into the playoffs with this team status quo we'll be fine through the first two rounds, but once we reach the ECF, there might be some fatigue with the starters. That means their play suffers, and we will just be toasted with our terrible second unit. I wish for sure that Rondo will play fantastic for all of the Cavs series but I feel there will be a couple games where he looks awful, and those are the games we will easily lose

Re: Our playoff fate lies in the hands of Joe Smith and Steph
I worded it poorly. Not the same team, but the same, if not better, talent level as the team last year. Posey ended up getting extremely overrated around Celtic nation. To say we can't beat the lakers right now is a disgrace to Perk, KG , Ray, Paul, and Rondo. AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE.
We will probably get better before the playoffs, so it's a moot point.

I think the Cavs have improved to the point where we need more offensive weapons to deal with them, both teams play great D but at the moment they will pretty much shut our bench out
Steph and Joe would be huge in that regard

All along we thought mid-season vet FAs were needed. The fact that Ainge cleared two roster spots is evidence that he agrees.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Re: Our playoff fate lies in the hands of Joe Smith and Steph
If the Cavs were the same team as last year, we'd beat them handily as constructed...but they got better and we sort of plateaued...we need to add some FAs between now and the playoffs for the bench depth, more than anything!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

This is absolutely correct. Even though Paul played better defense than Posey against LeBron last year, he still had Posey available to man up LeBron at least 15-20 minutes per game. In the playoffs, LeBron will be on the court 45-48 minutes per game and I honestly don't know if anyone on the C's besides Pierce can handle him.
Joe Smith and Steph don't solve that problem. I think Danny knows this, so we will either see more Giddens/Walker or a vet 3 brought in to fill one of those two spots.

Re: Our playoff fate lies in the hands of Joe Smith and Steph
^^I think it's safe to say that if we haven't seen hardly any Giddens/Walker by now, we certainly won't when the games really matter in the playoffs...
We need the backup 3 badly...

SAS on espn first take that Joe smith 'wants to go to boston and doesn't want to go to cleveland"
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Good. For starters it's a better city. Better team, better history, and he's tight with KG...come on Joe, play for us!
