Flagrant Foul

Post#1 » by LongTimeFan » Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:14 pm

Did you see that flagrant foul on Allen where Anthony (I think) knocked him over pretty hard. Allen slid across the floor and hit a group of fans pretty hard. He just layed there in enjoying the view. Big smile on his face. The fans were the dancers.

Pierce ran over and Allen just couldn't seem to get up. Life is hard in Denver for our boys.

That was K-Mart, who was looking for a reason to get tossed, it appeared later that his back was killing him. It was a real classic look at Ray though, dude is cool.

I have to say I am a little disappointed that we didn't have little payback in that game. I know it isn't Doc's style and we are short bodies but they were taking liberties.

Perkins sent a message by hip-checking Anthony on the moving screen. I know a lot of people will disagree and think it is a stupid foul but sometimes you have to look out for your team. If it takes roughing up the star player on the other team to re-establish control, you do it. Unfortunately, outside of Perkins, there just isn't anyone who will give an extremely hard message foul right now.

The beauty of Perkins doing it the way he did was that he kept his arms in and just stuck out his hip. The worst punishment you can get is an offensive foul. It sent an effective message, though. Anthony was pretty ineffective from that point forward.

Davis should have sent a similar message to Anthony later in the game when Anthony brought his knee up in Glen's face after a dunk. If you want to be punked, don't react and take it like a bitch. If you want to get respect, sometimes you need to take control of a situation because in David Stern's world, the referees are looking out for Stern's marketing opportunities, first and foremost.

One of the reasons they whooped up on us in Boston was that they played aggressive and physical and we backed down like a bunch of sallies. If you want to be alpha, sometimes you bite back when the pups start nipping at you. Establish and control your territory. We didn't do that in Boston and, outside of Perkins, we didn't really do it last night.

I am not saying do anything crazy stupid that will get you suspended but you have to establish your dominance. Luckily we were able to do just that because our shots were falling. If we have even a normal shooting game, the game would have been very different, imo. We were able to break their spirit via our offensive efficiency.

Consider that we didn't play this game at a quick tempo. In fact, we played slower than our average pace. We finished the game at 126.7 offensive efficiency and 84.4 defensive efficiency. It was our second best offensive performance, on a per possession basis, of the season. It was our second best defensive performance, as well. If we don't hit all those threes, early, this game isn't likely this lopsided.

Anyways, Denver is a very good team. I was pretty surprised they folded as easily as they did. They really missed Nene tonight because he is not only their best defender but he is also the heart and soul of that team.

That flagrant foul was a cheap shot. He showed that he couldn't keep his composure when he was way behind in the game. I have seen him in other games against different teams. I wouldn't want him in Boston.

k mart is a punk and always has been going back to when he was on the nets. There was clear intention to hurt ray on that play and he should have been tossed. Perk has to cool out on the offfensive fouls. it's ridiculous how many stupid fouls he commits while trying to set picks. Honestly, I thought we got lucky on several calls last night and that they helped us big time because it got into denver's head and made them lose their composure. Of the 5 offensive fouls called on them, at least 2 could have been blocking calls as we weren't set. On the other hand there was at least one foul by them on Pierce that wasn't called and they got the benefit of another charge that I thought could have been called on them. Rondo also got fouled going to the hole with no call.

Yup, Kenyon Martin is a deuche bag, no real suprises there. Ray handled it well though, I was laughing pretty hard when he was laying practically in the laps of the dancers with his head in his hands. I'm just glad he didn't get hurt.

we got the flagrant on kenyon martin

but ray took a three on the baseline and anthony carter closing out on the shooter threw a hip check into ray allen, who was defenseless with his hands up from shooting, was sent on his ass into the front row of fans

anthony carter didn't get a flagrant for that, which it was pretty obvious it was
thought we should have got one there, as did ray allen, who wasn't too pleased and had words, which resulted in the double techs, which are a joke

Yup, that hip check was dirty, and instead of trying to take control of the game there the refs did nothing until Ray spoke up. The refs suck (for both teams), K-mart is a deuche, no relevations from this game for me ;).
