Celtics @ Clippers - Wednesday, February 25th
I'm starting a proto game thread which can be easily be dissolved by soaking in water when the real game thread arrives.
I have not seen the Clippers play this season and yet feel strangely compelled to start the discussion early anyway.
Here's what I do know about the Clippers:
Chris Kaman has been out since November with a sore left foot.
Al Thornton missed the last game, also with a sore foot. Left or right is still undetermined.
Zachity Zach did the smackity smack on the face of Louis Amundson and was suspended two games, but that was a while ago and he's backity back.
Their starters: PG Baron Davis, SG Fred Jones, SF Eric Gordon, PF Mardy Collins, C Zachity Randolph.
Maybe Thornton will be back in which case that lineup is trashed and there will be a different one. Whatever.
Key reserves: former Minuteguy Camby, former Celtic Ricky, and a couple of guys named Novak and Taylor.
They also have a guy named Jordan on their team but he's not Michael and he didn't play in their last game and I don't know anything about him either.
Their record: 14 wins, lotsa losses.
Celtic starters: PG Rajon Rondo, SG, Ray Allen, SF Paul Pierce, C Perky, PF Glen Davis I guess.
Garnett is recovering. Scalabrine is recovering. Tony Allen is out.
Key reserves: current Celtic House, current Celtic Powe, current Celtic Pruitt, former AND current Celtic Mikki Moore.
With the big man shortage, Mikki Moore should see action in this contest. Also we can expect cameo appearances by Bill Walker and JR Giddens starring as themselves.
The Celtics record: 46 wins, not very many losses.
Key match up: None.
Keys to the game:
1) Make up something to get mad at them about, even if it's not true.
2) Say hi to Ricky but don't go out with him the night before.
3) Play sound fundamental basketball, while encouraging the other team to play unsound, wildly improvised basketball (or even encourage them to play a different sport altogether like swimming, field hockey or luge).
Last thought. Yell it loudly with me now: "BEAT LA! BEAT LA! BEAT LA!"
Wait, what? It's not that LA? Oh sorry. Well then, whisper very softly with me now: "beat la- beat la- beat la."
Also the game is really late, so if you want to see Mikki Moore you're either going to have to take a nap beforehand or miss some sleep that night.

Re: Celtics @ Clippers - Wednesday, February 25th
For me it starts at 4:30 AM!
I have seen a couple of clippers games this season and I absolutely loved Gordon! Great young player, exciting to watch, a scoring machine, feisty defender...
And LAC lineup of Davis, Gordon, Thorton, Randolph, Camby is very dangerous! If they are on they can score a lot of points. We need to be careful and play good defense...
I am also looking forward to seeing Steve Novak play. He is the guy I wanted us to sign in the offseason. 6-10 and a great three point shooter. We could use him to space the floor but I guess since Scal is playing so well now we don`t need him anymore. Deandre Jordan is another player to watch for...

I actually like games like these against teams that I really never get to see much of. They may be bad teams, but I still find it more interesting to watch some different players, instead having to see LeBron or Kobe for the zillionth time.

The additions to the Celtics roster should create some extra juice for tonight's game. I don't expect any letdown. These types of changes tend to make a team focus.

The earliest he can be a Celtic is Friday morning so there's no reason I can think of for him to go to LA first. If anything there must be a lot of preparation he can do in Boston to get ready.

???
These guys just got run out of the building on a home/home back-to-back with the Suns. We should win by at least 20.

Should I go to this game? Ticketmaster is offering a special $12 ticket (no fees) for the upper 300 section.
Anyone here going?

I would if I lived in LA, why not? Long drive for you? Or do you live near the arena?

To be honest, there is an ESPN Zone right across the street from the Staples Center. I usually have more fun there than at the actual game if my tickets are in the nosebleeds!
