OT: If Grant Hill is bought out, would you pass on Marbury?

I still want Hill here. Imagine if Hill got bought out and you're presented with the choice of either signing him or Marbury. What to do if you're Ainge. Hill is making under $2M which isn't much and might not be enough to motivate Phoenix to want to subtract him. However, the Suns would still have Barnes and Dudley at small forward to suffice until the off season should they decide to buy him out.

There's no chance Grant Hill in bought out. He's making cheap money and currently starting for the Suns who are fighting for their playoff lives.

As for whether I'd pass on Marbury if this ever somehow happened, no, I'd pass on Gabe Pruitt by waiving him and signing both Marbury and G-Hill.

Hill also said he'll retire if he's ever traded/waived by the Suns...so the point is moot.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

That is very nice that you want Grant Hill here. I am really happy for you, I really am. Now if you can actually give some hint as to him actually being bought out, that would be great? If not, those feelings are probably better left inside.

I'd love Grant Hill here but there's zero chance of that happening.

NFW.

Steph can finish games, play with the starters, or second unit.

If Grant Hill became available, someone like Pruitt might get cut,
but Grant Hill technically isn't needed if Steph comes on board.

The PLAYOFF minutes will probably look something like the following
(note: If Eddie is paired with Steph, Steph will play PG on offense and SG on defense)

PG: Rajon 33 / Steph 15
SG: Ray 25 / Eddie 17 / Steph 6
SF: Paul 37 / Ray 11
PF: Kevin 34 / Leon 14
C: Perk 28 / Mikki 10 / Glen Davis 10

That's a ten man rotation,
with two of Bill Walker, Gabe Pruitt and Brian Scalabrine the likely 11th & 12th Active.

Pruitt is insurance in case Marbury flakes out. Ainge has to know this so why would he waive him? I remember reading that Ainge likes to have three point guards.

If Ainge were confident enough in the guards he has already. Then I would prefer Hill over Marbury. Hill was once regarded as a point-forward and he still can handle the ball and be a capable passer. He's a veteran that Ainge and Rivers showed interest in before and would provide Pierce a viable back up. In my opinion, Hill makes more sense given Boston's situation involving injuries and lack of depth or questionable depth. But, yeah... Phoenix won't waive him even if they might not even make playoffs.

Hills been starting to have foot problems again of late. It's been rememarkable that he's been the only Sun to play in every game this season, but I don't think that's going to last much longer. Moot point and all since it's not about to happen, but even if he were available Marbs is more of what we need, aside from being a deuche.

Return to Boston Celtics
