Does Dick Bavetta deserve Bobcats Victory Cigar??

Post#1 » by Jammer » Thu Apr 2, 2009 3:21 am

Don't you just love Dick Bavetta and his crew (Mark Lindsay, Kevin Fehr)??

21 Bobcats fouls, yielding 26 Celtics free throws.

23 Celtics fouls, yielding 7 Bobcats free throws.

I think tonight's victory cigar should go to these gents.

The Rondo call was pretty questionable. I'd be angry if I was a Cats fan, but if I were ref I would've left that a no call, so who knows what would've happened.

Bavetta loves the home team, so I'll consider this a makeup for the Jazz game earlier this year. Still waiting on a makeup call from the Portland game.

Yeah, the Celtics could not get a call in those two losses Bavetta reffed,
and if they blew on a Jazzman or Blazer the other team was shooting.

At least he didn't stiff Charlotte as bad as the Celtics got stiffed twice this year.

Number of fouls/number of free throws doesn't tell you anything pertinent. This thought that each team should automatically have similar free throws (not saying you're making this claim, but it's made a lot) is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

I must say this... Perk absolutely KILLED Wallace on the screen on the Ray air ball, no call. Refs just aren't consistent, cause Perk always gets called for far less, as does Baby, on screens.

Yep, and contrary to what trolls from other teams think, we don't want biased reffing in our favor or against us...just call it straight up and fair and let the outcome be determined by the PLAY and not the reffing!

Exactly what you said, MIO: even biased calls FOR your team ruin the game. What a joke.

If anything it's even more aggravating because you don't feel you did it on merit...you won BECAUSE of the refs...winning IN SPITE of them is more satisfying, albeit **** annoying!

Yes he did---and Perk just stopped playing-thinking there was gonna be a whistle---when he should have rolled to the basket...Ray took the shot--but Perk would have been wide open for a dunk.

Horrible no call--but Char was flopping a lot during the game.

this was one of the few games where I thought a lot of calls went our way. There was a no call on Pierce in the ot where he basically pulled a guy away from a rebound. Also I though the Okafur pick on rondo was questionable but on our side Perk got called for some that were also questionable. L Brown shouldn't complain about fouls when his team was shooting jumpers all night. BTW how bad must scott may suck if he can't even get off the bench. Charlotte has a lot of talent and with brown as their coach they are a team to be reckoned with . They will get another decent draft pick this year. If you're Cleveland who would you rather face in the first round- CHicago or CHarlotte ( if they get in). I think CHarlotte would give Cleveland all they can handle while the Bulls should be easier for Cleveland. Maybe detroit will slide to number 8.

Dick Bavetta and the overall NBA Fix has caused me to just stop watching NBA. Right now Bucks are playing Philly and Bavetta is working and Philly has a 16-3 FT edge. Its just unfair. Read...

I still watch but I don't take it seriously any more...I watch it, have fun (or yell at the TV) and then move on. Life has many more important things than tilted NBA games...
