Is there any chance that Garnett...

Post#1 » by Cigamodnalro » Sun May 3, 2009 2:01 am

comes back in the second round?

I'm a bit out of the loop about the extent of KG's injury, but I've gathered that everyone sort of is.

Is there a chance he could be activated before the second round, and possibly be ready to play against Orlando (assuming a victory tonight)?

Highly unlikely, though there seems to be an outside chance until they put him on the dl/injured list.
Personally, I'm hopin and wishin, and holdin out hope we see that psycho in green emerge in his uni from the tunnel one of these games.

I don't think there is such a list in the NBA.

There's an outside chance until he is scheduled for imminent surgery.

if there was no chance of returning surely he'd have had surgery for the other issue and be recovering from that already, so while its unlikely its still somewhat possible i guess

was always going to be that the longer we stay in the playoffs the better the chances of him coming back are

Maybe if it's close and it goes to a Game 7, I think he might come back, but otherwise he's resting to see if the Celtics get to Cleveland.

There is still the fact that he has not got surgery yet. They can try to cover up that fact with all the excuses they want, but the fact of the matter is, the injury he has requires surgery. He has yet to have surgery. I think the situation speaks for itself.

Of course there's a chance but I don't think it's a good one. I think there is a better chance he plays if the Celtics make it to Cleveland because it's just crazy to think that KG could hold up for 3 series'. The Celtics are a long shot to win it all even if KG comes back... unless he comes back at 100% which seems like an impossibility. So why risk further injury and also risk further demoralizing your team by bringing KG back only for him to go down again? Only to lose to Cleveland or LAL regardless? I think it would be relatively foolish of the Celtics to do that. The only scenario where I see KG playing is if the Celtics dominate the Magic, advance and/or KG gets somewhere around 90% healthy... I really can't see that happening given what we've heard about KG's knee.

If by some miracle the Celtics get by Orland and Cleveland, then I think KG will play in the finals. Risking further injury this early in the playoffs is silly. But if they make it all the way to the Finals, then it might be worth it for a legitimate shot to win it all again.

From a team stand point, I think you see how we do against Orlando first. If we can get by them and KG says he is ready and some doctor clears him than I say we go for it against the cavs. What will be tricky is if we get to a game 7 against the magic. You know KG will be begging to come back than.
