Reggie Lewis

Post#1 » by cwas2882 » Fri May 8, 2009 7:44 pm

Hey guys, I started following the NBA around 93-94 and have always been interested in the Reggie Lewis story. More specifically the details about his death, him as a player, cap contraversy afterwards. I've noticed you guys bringing it up a few times about being screwed and I'm interested.

Also, this one would be a huge favor, if at all possible. I was wondering if anyone had a subscription to the Boston Globe and could hook me up with some archived stuff from around that time. Thanks in advance to everyone

I'm probably the biggest Reggie Lewis fan, that was a sad day when I saw it on the evening news... Here is a link to the 93 issue of SI that has the information you are looking for. Click on "view this issue" its starts on page 30.

Reggie was one of my all time favorite players and it felt like I lost a close family friend when he died.

Had he not had his health problems he would have been one of the premier players during the 90's...I honestly believe it.

He use to be able to drive to the hoop, stop on a dime, and elevate and drain the J. It was a thing of beauty.

The playoff series against the Hornets he came out like a man driven. Who knows how far we could have gone.

There are books out there as well about him if you take a look online.

Prue....thanks for the link, it brought back memories.

I remember watching TV on a muggy July night when they cut in to announce Reggie had died...my dad and I were stunned, just sitting there in front of the TV...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

very very sad. Imagine what could have been if Reggie and Bias had stayed alive. Sad for the fans but it must have been unbearable for their respected families.
