OT- Delonte West in underrated

Post#1 » by return2glory » Fri May 8, 2009 9:06 pm

Delonte West is one of the most underrated players in the league IMO. West is a player that can play 2 positons. He can shoot, pass, rebound, handle the ball, and play defense.

Delonte West doesn't get enough credit in the league for the great defense he plays. He did a great job on Ray Allen last year in the playoffs. This year, he did the same in the 1st round vs. Rip Hamilton. And so far vs the Hawks in 2 games, he is holding Joe Johnson to 10 points a game.

It looks like it's going to be the Cavs vs Lakers in the Finals this year. My money is on the Cavs to win. And IMO, Delonte West is going to be the difference maker. West will slow down Kobe.

I just wanted to give some props to Delonte West as an ex Celtic. I wish he still had him after Seattle gave him away.

Has he been guarding Joe Johnson or has Lebron. ATL has been playing a lot of Mo Evans/Flip Murray?

The Cavs put Delonte on the other teams best guard, Mo Will on the other guard and LeBron take SF most the time. I agree with glory playing between Mo and James he gets no respect. The guys got heart too, when he was here during the losing streak he played as hard as he could every play. Mr. West is the man.

I instantly knew he would help the Cavs. He's a good player who can defend well and knock down the 3-pointer.

Damn, that Cavs team is dangerous! Bastards.

Man almost nobody can touch Kobe. I don't see what that has to do with anything. You a big Kobe fan? If your really saying **** West you must have just became a Celtics fan when they started winning.

No. I been a Celtics fan since the Rick Pitino and Milt Palacio days...i used to love D.West when he was here, but I hate his **** ass ever since he pulled that **** on the Cleveland bench against Boston about a month back. And no...not a big Kobe fan either I just don't think Delonte can't guard him..return2glory said West will guard Kobe and I said West can't touch him, meaning he can't 'guard him'....how does that not have to do with anything? You calling me out saying I must be a Celtics fan only when they started winning is the only thing that has nothing to do with this thread...

I agree that he is a solid overlooked player as well.

I was just saying, Joe Johnson has been playing a lot of SF for the Hawks to open up PT for Mo Evans & Flip Murray. I am curious as to whether he is the one guarding JJ or if its Lebron. I haven't been watching the series.

I actually thought Delonte has been vastly overrated, atleast on these boards.

He is a great defender, but if you watch the games you will notice the CAVS double Joe Johnson all the time. The same thing was done against Ray.

I agree he's underrated

Hey BRUNiNHO91

What do you mean by "I hate his **** ass ever since he pulled that **** on the Cleveland bench against Boston about a month back."

I'm not sure what you're referring to. It was Mo Williams acting silly on the bench during the blowout of the Celtics. As far as Kobe goes.... there's not a player in the league that can shutdown Bryant.

No he did some pretty gay **** as well. Like getting picked up while flexing, sitting on LeBron's lap and all the crap he pulled down there.
As for there being no player in the league able to shut down Kobe..I think Paul Pierce would like to say something about that... :D

Presti gets a lot of praise but he blew it by giving up Delonte for nothing. I still love Delonte.

How is what Delonte and the Cavs did any different than what KG does on any given night? Atleast Delonte didn't direct it at the other team. It looked to me like they were just having fun. KG does far worse on the court and on the bench. Sounds like you're just upset about the Celtics getting ripped by a better team.

West would be a nice little 6th man on a good team and a marginal starter on a bad team. Lucky for him, he is on a team that would be bad except they have the GOAT taking the court with them. So it makes it seem like he is a good starter on a great team.

Delonte West again showed how underrated he is. He outplayed Joe Johnson in game 4, scoring 21 points, getting 4 boards and 6 assists. In the series against the Hawks, West averaged 15.0 per game on 50% shooting while Joe Johnson averaged 15.0 and shot 42%.

I'm not saying that West is better than J.J., but he outpayed J.J. in that series.

In the 1st round, West held Hamilton to 13.3 points per game on only 36% shooting. And if the Cavs face the Lakers, Kobe isn't going to get his way with West and the Cavs defense.

I don't know how he does it. He is undersized but always manages to get blocks and keep larger guards from posting him up. He's done it all year.

The Cavs give him some help but alot of times he just mans up and stops people.

The guy just has heart, and you can't quantify a stat for that.

You can see why him and Jameer Nelson were so good in college, because Mo is basically the same type of player as Jameer. Maybe that's why he fits in so well on CLE.
