They're not trading Ray --
They would trade him for Jefferson, but I see no reason for Milwaukee to do that trade. We'd have to throw in something else -- but what do we have? Bill Walker? Pipe dream.

Re: R.Allen Vs. realistic SG trade options with numbers!
IMO the best option at this point would be to go after Stojakovic. For one I don't think Danny would trade Ray Allen to a team that doesn't have a chance of winning. I also don't see Danny sending Ray Allen to a team in the EC. The team that makes the most sense to me would be New Orleans. They need to cut cost but they also still have a good chance to make a nice play-off run next season. Now I'm not say Stojakovic is better the Ray Allen but he can shoot the ball from deep. You can also put him in the post when he is covered by smaller guys and he a great free throw shooters. You have him locked up for 2 more season. The only concern would be he is prone to injury. But that the is issue with more of the guys mention. Vince Carter, Michael Redd and JR are all injury prone players. I said this yesterday the player I would like on this team would be Steven Jackson. Jackson doesn't do one thing that is great but he does a lot of things very well. Jackson can play 3 position if need be (PG, SG & SF).

I don't mind if we keep him, but at the same time I would not reject trading him because he was that bad and is possibly giving us a glimpse of what he can offer.
I would hate to see Ainge resign Ray for 12mill once his contract expires.
Carter is nice and is a better player than Ray but I just don't see how anyone would want Ray.
I have to disagree with your comment about Michael Redd not being a great defensive player. Coming out of Ohio State Michael Redd was thought of as a defensive player. I like Michael Redd games and I just think every since Ray Allen left the Bucks way back when he was asked to be Ray Allen i.e. a scorer. If he was to come to the Celtics I think everyone would be surprise to see how good the guys is on the defensive end. I just would stay away from him but of the injuries.

I still like the idea of using Ray, Rondo, and expirings to make a run at Chris Paul and one or two of New Orleans unwanted contracts. You can build around Chris Paul for the next 6-10 years, and in the meantime, he makes the "Rondo Defense" approach that Cleveland and Orlando have used to stagnate our offense useless. If we can get Posey in that same deal, he can start, and we can add a guy like Parker, Flip, or others to help fill in the 2/3 spot.
I don't think Rondo will ever be used effectively as long as PP and KG are around. Rondo needs to be on a fast break team, and on a slow it down team, he hurts the half court offense against good team defenses.

Chris Paul didn't exactly help his rep with that pathetic series in this year's playoffs. He's a supreme talent but he needs to show some more heart...at the first sign of adversity he starts pouting...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I would take my chances with a team featuring him, KG, and PP. I think when Hornets management gave up on them at the trade deadline, the players gave up to a degree as well. If we could get CP3 and Posey in a deal for Ray and Rondo, I'd be all over it, and I think Danny would too.

with some of the thought processes displayed here you would think Ray demanded a trade or that we have had him for years and not got out of the first round. IF we do trade Ray we need to get something that significantly helps us in the future. You don't trade in your old car for another old car do you?

I can agree with this!

Heh. If that means we could turn Ray and Rondo into CP3 I would be all over it. Rondo is too lackluster at the offensive end compared to CP3 who can strike the perfect balance between effective threat to score and facilitator..
I love quantity for quality trades. The team that gets the superior talent always wins. It shouldn't be hard for Danny to find upgrades for guys like Scalabrine, Moore, Davis WITHOUT resorting to trading away your stars or future stars. It is however hard to find upgrades in talent to guys like Rondo and Ray..
We should start ceding discontent around the Hornets world about the "pathetic" play of CP3..
