The Wizards lookin to shop 5th pick...

Post#1 » by forever35 » Wed May 20, 2009 5:16 pm

2 years ago we traded a 5th pick, Wally and West to then the seattle supersonics for Ray... Do we work the same type of deal with the Wizards for their 5th pick... Maybe we get a guy like Jamison who is like a younger version of Sheed... The Wizards weren't happy with their draft spot, need perimeter shooting and want they want to cut salary to go after Bosh in 10'/11'.

We could look to sign a Barnes or Anthony Parker to fill in at the sf...

Or we could use the 5th pick as trade bait with ta or scals expiring contract...

Jamison's contract goes till 11'/12' and is 11mil, 13mil, and 15mil...

What do you think???

??? Sure, let's jut trade picks with them, 5 for 58.

I mean, how do you propose we get the pick? I would say the Celtics are one of the last teams that will be competing for that pick.

IMO this is one of the worst draft years that I have seen. I think this will go down as the worst draft in the last 20 years. I don't think the Wiz are going to get much for the 5th pick.

Danny Ainge deserves more credit for including this 1st round pick in the KG trade and keeping the 2009 draft pick. Danny definitely knows how to evaluate college talent.

No thanks. This draft is turrible. Though, the last 5th pick the Wizards had, they traded it (Devin Harris) for Antwan Jamison.

I am a big fan of Jamison. I think he is a winner on a bad team. Any way we could get him I would have to consider.

I don't think this draft is as bad as everyone thinks, but there's still no one worth the trade to get that pick, especially for us.

Do you have room for another guy making the max?
Utah would take a couple of your unwanted contracts and the #5 for Kirilenko

Jamison is a good player and objectively would really help us. But he fills less of a void than Ray, is aging, gets paid a lot, and when push comes to shove he is a soft big man. No thanks.

If we felt we could land DeRozan with the 5th pick I would be open to discussion.

When you go outside Rondo and Perk, what you're left with in the young guys is really dismal. Powe with knee injury history, out again. Walker with knee injury history. Davis, the short fat guy who can't jump. Giddens with 8 career minutes played. Pruitt with 11 career playoff minutes over 2 seasons. A guy in Turkey who is the second best center on his club team. TA isn't really a prospect any more, and well, jeez. Everyone else is in their 30's. Maybe this is a weak draft, but perhaps with the 5'th pick we could actually get someone who has a hope of being a prime time player in the future.

If everyone thinks this draft is weak, perhaps the price for the 5'th pick is also weak. I'd like to see the Celtics with that pick, because other than the UFA route there is little hope of a star coming out of the young bunch we currently have. And the 58'th pick sure isn't likely to get us anyone.

Celtics don't need young players. They are trying to win as many championships as they can in the next 2-3 years. Look at how much playing time Giddens, Walker and Pruitt got this season. The Celtics are interested in quality vets, not rookies. No need to trade for the 5th pick.

Well, the Celtics need good players, young or old. The reason Giddens, Walker, Pruitt, O'Bryant, Cassell, Moore didn't get much playing time this year has little to do with their ages, and moreso to do with the fact they're not very good. Kevin Love was 5'th pick last draft, frankly he would have looked good in a Celtics uniform. Perhaps a slight upgrade to O'Bryant and Moore (sic).

here's the sad part- we had the free agent that we needed and we let him go. if we had kept posey we'd be in the ecf right now. as good as danny was in 2007-2008 he was flat out awful in 2008-2009. every move he made backfired- from losing posey to drafting giddens to signing moore and marbury. then he has a heart attack- not a good year for danny

I guess the post's idea was we would trade Ray for the #5 and Jamison? That would be a decent deal for us although it would throw off our a balance. No way Washington would do it though, they're trying to get more veterans, not swap veterans and lose the pick in the process. Surely they are thinking #5 plus a bad contract, not #5 plus Jamison.

Posey would not have made the difference in us advancing past Orlando or not. This overrating of Posey is reaching "Bring Back Antoine!" proportions.
