Keeping Tony Allen away from Chicago might be for the best, all things considered.

I'd take him in a heartbeat for that package.

Re: tim thomas?
tim thomas would have been a perrenial all star if he played harder and perhaps smarter. If you were to draw up a body type for an NBA player Tim Thomas would be the guy. 6 10, strongly built, can shoot from the outside, etc etc. He looks like the perfect player. But he comes up small and has never lived up to his potential. Could he change and become a valuable player in our system? Maybe. Maybe having KG scream at you during practice will get you going but my belief is tim thomas is never going to be better than he is now and that's not very good. He couldn't even get off the bench against us in the chicago series so that should tell you something
"Now, there's a steal by Bird..!"

marbury couldn't get off the bench on a non playoff team, yet played in our playoff rotation.

I guess the question really just becomes how do you acquire him? I don't think he's the type of guy you trade for, even if we're talking about Tony and Scals (who, combined are more valuable than Thomas IMO). And he's not a free agent, so...
But I do think Thomas could help the Celtics. He is that type of rangy SF-PF athlete that the Celtics lost when Posey departed. I mean Scal fits that bill too but he doesn't have the same talent level. However, Thomas definitely didn't appear to be in the greatest of condition the last time I saw him play. Don't know what he has in the tank.

I'd only want to do TA+ Scal for Thomas if he was a poor addition that made roster space for singing some vets to the roster.

I don't really know much about Tony Allen, but is he really that worthless? I always thought he was a very good defender.

We did too. Until the past couple seasons.

While I hate Tony Allen, I sure wouldn't trade him in a package to get Tim Thomas. Thomas is just not good enough, he's overweight and can't play defense. And the Marbury comparison is laughable at best.
