What about trading for Jamaal Tinsley?

Post#1 » by campybatman » Tue Jun 9, 2009 3:56 am

I wrote this trade in another thread. I'd explained my logic for this idea there. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=908815&start=90

I would do either one but I really like the latter. Both of these trades work on ESPN's trade machine.

Scalabrine, T. Allen and Giddens for Tinsley.

Or...

Scalabrine, T. Allen, Pruitt, Giddens and Walker for Tinsley and B. Rush.

Preferably, for Boston, I would rather include House as oppose to including both Pruitt and Walker. But, House can't be traded until the first of July.

Well...I don't think we want another PG who hasn't played in over a year.....we tried that with Marbury---didn't work too well...and he's supposed to be a better player than Tinsley.

If he's released then the Cs should look into signing him. Trading for him isn't worth it.

I like the second deal. I have wanted Rush. He played poor most of last season but finished the season strong once finally inserted into the starting lineup where Jim O'brien wasn't relying on him as much to create offense (and where he was simply more used to the system, etc). He makes for the perfect role playing wing in respects.

First deal...I used to like Tinsley but without getting anything else in return, and given his contract, and given that he is currently 31 years old and hasn't played in a bit...strikes me as too risky.

Tinsley hasn`t played in over a year, is making 7 million per year for the next two seasons and you want to trade expirings for him? This is an Isiah Thomas move!

I like Rush but they would have to throw their first rounder or Hibbert into the deal for me to even consider trading for Tinsley...

Hence, the stalemate, Indiana doesn't want to buy him out. They're still holding onto the hope to trade him.

I understand that his salary is undesirable. But, who are Boston really losing in my proposed trade? Tinsley's contract is for two more years. You basically have him for next season, then you try to trade him thereafter or buy him out as a last resort. I think Tinsley's a steal on the right team. He's in no position to demand starting in his predicament. I think it's a savvy move on Ainge's part to explore my suggestion. Who's better, more talented than Tinsley at point guard who Boston could realistically acquire via trade or sign as a UFA? Probably, no one. I rest my case.

The Pacers want him off the team, they'll take whatever they can get. They aren't going to waive him with two years remaining on his contract. I don't think that's possible...

I would only do option one, and then only with Ind sending the 13th pick back also.

i want to say this without you thinking i'm calling you stupid. I am not, i'm calling your idea the stupidest i've seen this offseason. and wha? rather include house (the celtics all time single season 3pt% shooter) in a trade over a couple combo guards that got almost no time and by all accounts will be traded or released soon?

what was that all about.

And Indiana would decline... If I'm Indiana, I wouldn't include the thirteenth pick. But, it all depends on how bad they desire to trade Tinsley. Considering that they were fine with him at home and away from the team this season is telling.

I prefer the second choice because you'll acquire B. Rush. Rush could be a better player than anyone selected at thirteen. Having Rush then makes sense if Ainge trades Ray or he plays out his contract next season and signs elsewhere.
