I don't think you are taking into account the fact that Ray is also two years older.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I think that's pretty much offset by his contract expiring this season.

PHX might want more, but it's a good trade idea.

Amare and the number 4 pick :droop: I love Ray, but even that deal makes me drool.

So basically it's trade Ray for Amar and Ray. I think PHX got screwed. It is so clear.

#2 to Boston

Celtics trade away 2 near all star starters, for a pick and junk players that won't get off the bench. No thanks.

People are going a little overboard with all these trade scenarios. Even if we may be looking at acquiring an early round pick, I sincerely doubt Danny will make a trade that leads to us having a weaker team next year for the sake of 5 years down the road. If we can get an early pick for cheap, or with somebody that can contribute now for whatever asset we lose then we do the trade. Otherwise there's no rush. Right now we have one pf the best starting 5 in the league. All Danny has to do is fix the bench and we will be serious contenders for next year.

The trade talk is a bit absurd at this point. However Ainge has said on a number of occasions that the way the contracts of the original Big 3 were handled handcuffed the Celtics for a long long time and he would not do the same. This means the idea of just extended Ray, Paul, and Garnett is not going to happen. He may keep 1 or 2 but will maximize the value of their slots as well to keep a flow of young talent. Ray Allen's value to the Celtics right now could not be higher and the fact that he is 20M expiring and can still play definitely is worth a Top 5 pick. Of course they would also need to fill the scoring void by trading him understanding that you cannot rely on most 19-20 year old kids, especially in the playoffs. And there is no way Rondo is involved in any deal (Ainge is not trading his guy) unless a legit young NBA star is involved. You do not trade 23 year old PG's that are arguably top 5, borderline All-star, 2nd team all defense. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN regardless of how much some of the yahoos on here do not like him.

It's not going to happen at their present salaries but it could happen at a much lower salary. For example, Ray Allen signs a 3 year extension at $6.0 million a year. Ray Allen becomes a backup sharpshooter off the bench at ages 36-38. It all depends on how much more money the Big 3 want and if they could play lesser rolls so the Celtics could compete for a championship for the next 4-5 years.

Only time will tell.

How exactly is Rondo anymore Ainge's guy than Al, Delonte, or Ryan? Or Jiri, Marcus, or Gerald for that matter?

I have heard him talk about what happened with the Big 3 at the end of the 80's and he knows what all the options on the table were for Bird, Parish, and McHale were and what coulda and shoulda happened. He always ends these conversations with a joke about how he was the one traded and everyone laughs. But the truth was on paper Ainge was poised to be the next star. He was avg 18 ppg and the premiere perimeter shooter in the game. While maybe Boston would have been better with Detlef Shrempf instead of what was left of Kevin, one thing Red was right about was trading a 29 year old Danny Ainge and not committing to him as his primary star. While you would have hoped for more than Joe Kliene and Ed Pinckey, Ainge had one more season of All Star caliber play and he become back up player. There is as much a lesson to be learned there as there is with holding on to the great ones too long, is confusing good with great. Rondo is good and right now there is a lot of people confusing him with great.
