Boston, Washinton and Memphis

I posted this exactly in another thread. I just want to know if you'll do this and would Washington and Memphis do this.


If Boston could trade with Washington somehow to acquire their fifth pick. Perhaps, an agreement could be worked out beforehand where Boston selects Jordan Hill for Memphis, and Memphis selects whoever Ainge desires with the second pick. Then Hill's draft rights are traded to Memphis along with other players in exchange for the player selected with the second pick and Mayo.

The draft rights to the second pick (presumingly, Harden or Thabeet) and Mayo for the draft rights to the fifth pick (J. Hill), Rondo, Pruitt, Walker and Giddens. This trade works if just the players.

Prior to, Boston could do this deal to acquire the fifth pick. Ray Allen and a future first round pick in exchange for the fifth pick, Haywood, M. James, Young and McGee. This trade works if just the players.

The roster after the additions and subtractions.


PF - Garnett, Scalabrine and free agent (maybe McDyess)
SF - Pierce and free agent (maybe Barnes)
C - Perkins, Haywood, McGee and Thabeet
PG - Mayo and M. James
SG - Young, House, T. Allen and Harden


Boldfaced - It's either one, not both.

The second round pick is another foreign player who won't play next season, or it's traded off as part of a later trade.

These are my hypothetical ideas, not fact. I'm not saying both teams do this, or Ainge would do it. I mean I didn't workout how these work for those teams. But, I like it in that after everything you are still in a good position for 2010. That is, they're all players having one-year left. The only major salaries are Garnett and Pierce, and Pierce has an early termination clause he can exercise for after next season.

I believe this adds up to fourteen players, including the two supposed free agents. The maximum is fifteen.


Edit: I'll add my thoughts right quick on how this effects the two other teams.

For the Wizards, losing the contracts of Haywood and M. James in favor of Ray's salary for one year might can help save money toward 2010. Also, it has been rumored that Jamison to Cleveland is a possibility. Apparently, Mike James would be included in that deal. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Wor ... 16th-3263/

For the Grizzles, they lose Mayo but will have a tandem of two true point guards in Rondo and Conley, Jr., and they would address the need for a potential starting power forward by acquiring the draft rights to J. Hill, the second rated power forward in the draft.

Neither Washington or Memphis does that deal. Memphis is not trading Mayo for that package even if you didn't include the #2 pick. And Washington would not want to trade it's two youngsters for a 1 year rental of Ray. Even without the kids, they'd also prefer trading Etan Thomas over Haywood. There's not enough incentive for the other teams to even consider making those deals.

No offense but do you honestly think that 34 year old Ray Allen is worth all of that or are you just looking at things from a Celtics perspective.

Also, please tell me why the Wiz would give up thier Center of the present as well thier Center of the future?
