No way!

Let me ask you something, could the samething be said about Doc then. I mean he had a lot of losing seasons for how many years? And why didnt he win a title until he team was stalked with two additional H.O.F.

Except no one here thinks Doc is some all time great coach for winning with a bunch of Hall of Famers...

No one is saying a coach should win without talent, the point with Jackson is he never goes through any struggles. He hops onto teams that are primed for championship runs, and coaches them to those runs. To me, that's totally different than a guy like Doc who coached a young Celtics team and went through struggles in order to eventually win a championship. A lot of coaches can win with hall of fame talent, perhaps Phil is even the best at it, but that's only half the battle coaching wise to me, and Phil has totally avoided the other half.

Hell, it wouldn't shock me to see Phil jump on the LeBron train and start another dynasty there.

Wow any HOF coach will like to jump on an ungrateful Kobe, Odumb, Luke, Kwame, Cook, Sasha in 05-06. Yep! That team was primed for a championship run. And I'm not even talking about the Lakers scrubs (Smush!). lol. Coaching that Lakers team to 7th seed of the playoffs in the West is as tall a struggle that you will find that year. And you know what? His legacy is already intact at that point that he should not have bothered coaching that team. Instead he endured Kobe's trade demands, Kwame's boneheadedness, Odom's disappearance, and Smush Parker to name a few. That's why the 09 champ is sweet because it was a 4 year journey.

I mean what struggle are you talking about. Tanking your way to get Oden? That's not struggling, lol that's losing... forcefully.

I don't think a 66 win team would be that bad.

I do think if Phil was Mike Brown in February 09', he'd trade Wally. That "chemistry" excuse by the Cavs execs is a cop-out. Phil will definitely know how to make it work with new talent in the middle of the season. At least he will know that at that point talent trumps chemistry.

Given the way they bowed out against Orlando (shoulda been swept) and their pathetic offense, not to mention that if LeBron is not on that team, they barely win 30 games, yes I would say that is the worst team (talent-wise) to be a championship contender in a long time...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

The most recent stint with the Lakers had a lot of other outside circumstances, largely his relationship with the Buss family. I'm not saying he hopped onto this set of Lakers for a championship run, but his first stint with the Bulls and the Lakers? Both teams were ready to go the moment he got there.

Even when he started with the 2nd stint with the Lakers, he still had the player regarded as the best in the league on his team (even with the turmoil), and seeing as LeBron just took a team of basically scrubs to the conference finals and 66 wins, I don't see the 7th seed with Kobe, Odom and company as all that tall of an order.

I'd just like to see Phil develop a star from the ground up. He came into Jordan/Pippen after they were established, and Kobe/Shaq after they were established. It'd be nice for the "greatest coach of all time" to actually develop a star from the ground up.
