Re: Danny wants to trade up (Hoopsworld)
No doubt, ainge makes drafts exciting. He didn't do much in 05, but I remember that G. green draft, everyone kept dropping, and it was so exciting. Let's hope Harden falls to 58.

As in big trade?
I would say there is a good chance ainge makes a small one. Tinker around to get back into the first, or even early 2nd.
Yes, that is what I mean. He may buy his way in the latter half of the first round, but I don't see any of these made up rumors amounting to anything.

2009 (Pick already traded) + ...
2008 Cash for Walker
2007 Ray Allen + Big Baby for our pick, Delonte, and Wally
2006 #7 + Raef for Telfair + Ratliff, traded Cleveland pick for Rondo
2005 Gerald Green...but tried to trade up to grab CP3
2004 No draft day trades, but earlier trades setup 3 first round picks, Tony, Delonte, and Big Al.
Didn't we buy Leon Powe's pick too?

We got powe from denver for a future 2nd. Solid solid move, the only 2nd round deal of ainge's that I think I really didn't like was Songailia for Hunter
ETA and I forget the specifics but I think we bought Oriene Greene based off of a promise to an agent and everyone was flipping thinking that we were going to get Amir Johnson

ugh, yeah I'd have to make the deal, and I believe ainge would get a hell of a 3/4 to pester lebron w/ at the 11 spot, but we'd also be giving NJ all the opportunity in the world to bring Bron into our division.
I think i'd vomit in my mouth a little w/ the thought of trading out two guys I love for those two though...
You can look at that two ways though. Maybe a little more far-fetched but I know LeBron has publicly said he would love to play alongside Devin Harris so if New Jersey trades him off and they have Rondo instead (terrible fit with LeBron), I think he'd be smart to not play there.

How 'bout keeping him?
I like the other trade though. Jersey will be doing everything for money and cap reasons right now.
Harris may or may not be better than Rondo, but it is close and Harris at least offensively is easily a better fit for us because he can hit that jumper and would relieve some scoring from Ray and Paul. Rondo may have been the better defender last year but Devis Harris was a FORCE defensively in college and on the Mavericks. Many NJ fans will say how disappointed they are in his D. There is no doubt that under TT's defensive system we will still have a very good defensive PG if we traded for Harris.

Not sure why they don't list Minnesota. Rondo would be an ideal pickup for them. Rondo, Scals, House for Mike Miller and #6 (Evans)...

If the team in this deal is NJ with the 11th pick, I know most here have expressed they would never trade Ray for VC, but would they be open to Ray for VC AND the 11? It'd be tough but I'd have to consider it. If Rajon and Devin were included, I'd definitely do it. No questions asked.

Re: Danny wants to trade up (Hoopsworld)
I honestly don't think there will be a MAJOR trade until the deadline....Lots of teams will be scrambling to unload players to clear out some cap room at that time---Most teams probably want to wait to see what kind of team they have----come Feb, they'll know, and might be desperate.
Ainge might move Scal/Tony on draft day though....We'll have to wait until later for a Ray Allen deal.

^^^If the Celtics do not trade Ray during the offseason, I highly doubt Ainge would break up this team mid way through a championship run by trading him at the deadline.

Can guys with options like House & Pruitt be dealt? They could have some value for cash strapped teams.. House is likely to opt out of his deal and Pruitt has a team option..

I think he would if guys like Chris Paul or Wade decide they want out....to me, the SCARIEST thing about the entire off-season, is what the Cavs might and CAN do, if they wanted to....If they trade Ben Wallace's corpse for Shaq..and then sign Rasheed Wallace to the MLE---Who would be able to stop them from running over everyone in the league next year? They'd have Shaq/R.Wallace/Big Z/Flopper Floppington up front, to go along with a Damn good Back court--and the Puppet too.
Orlando would have Howard..and we'd have Perk/KG....and Baby?...Powe?....Mikki?.....doesn't sound too good......The Lakers might have enough length to deal with that.

Yeah, but he was saying that before the 2007 draft and we all know who he got in that draft.

The player to keep an eye out for is Terrence Williams from Louisville. I've have a strong feeling the Cs will end up with Terrence Williams in this draft via trade. Remeber you heard it here first.

I hope so. He is my sleeper in the draft and is the guy that I want to Celtis to get.

I really like Terrence but still wish we could pick up a swingman off the bench who could shoot.

Re: Danny wants to trade up (Hoopsworld)
I doubt that Ainge is dangling either Rondo or Ray Allen for a lottery pick in this draft, that would be amazingly stupid.
Teams have huge financial concerns and everyone wants to be under the cap next season. What Ainge is more likely looking to do is exploit that situation. He has a collection of expiring and non guaranteed contracts. My guess what he is doing is offering a team like the Kings a chance to dump Nocioni's contract for Scal/TA/Pruitt in exchange for the 11 pick. The Kings would save 4 mil this season and get out of the 3 years 20 mil remaining on Nocioni's deal. Boston can include some lottery protected future draft choice.
It is going to be extremely difficult to find teams willing to sacrifice cap space next season so almost all deals will have a financial angle as much as a basketball one. This is basically what Ainge did in reverse with the Roy/Telfair deal. He dumped 7 and got back in at 21 and got the same player, there is a chance that SAC could get out of 4 and get their guy at 23 or even move up a few spots.
