Nate Robinson and David Lee

Post#1 » by theman » Wed Jun 24, 2009 7:58 pm

Danny should offer the full MLE to both (one at a time of course) forcing the Knicks to extend them and use up their precious cap space.

Not good.

David Lee is going to get more than the MLE and the Celtics don't want to get stuck with Nate Robinson if the Knicks refuse to match. The Celtics need big men.

No thanks on Nate Robinson

Scal stinks, Powe is injured (with a serious knee injury) and BBD could leave as a FA........ how is Lee redundant?

And as this game unfolds through the weeks (I believe teams have a week to match), we'll be watching the players that we actually want sign on with other teams.

BTW, why would we care about the cap space for the NYK?

with powe out for a long while, scal being scal, and BBD possibly moving on, theres no reason NOT to consider Lee who is a great player. its just a longshot acquiring him. Plus he beat james white in a televised dunk contest a few years ago - youre hard pressed to name 3 other guys that could do that right now.

nate robinson is worth the full MLE and more to alot of teams, but probably not ours.

He'd be a waste backing up Garnett because we only need to fill in 12 minutes in that reserve role anyways. I think Scal+Powe are perfectly suited to play 12 minutes a game. I would hate to acquire talent just to shove them in that time slot. Lee can't back up Perk. Id much rather try and get a legit 5 or a wing. Id also rather keep Garnet away from banging with Centers like Haywood and Ilgauskas in the East.

Nate at the point would mean we'd have the streakiest pg rotation in the league, with him and Rondo.

We're supposed to sign Lee because 8 years ago he beat a guy in a high school slam dunk contest?

He's not suggesting that we sign these players to improve our roster. The idea is to force New York to match their offers and ruin their 2010 capspace, but that plan doesn't work because neither player is going to sign an offer sheet for the MLE when they can easily get more from someone else.

Why, to keep them from signing McHale?

Yeah, I'm sure Donnie Walsh would love to match the offers for 2 role players and lose a chance at Lebron.

I don't won't either of them. Lee can only rebound (Perk, KG, Powe are all better) and Robinson is too small to fit into our defensive minded team.
