I kept thinking we might make a move for DaJuan Summers or Blair or Budinger when they were slipping. certainly if we wanted to buy a pick it appears we could have. But when you think about it if you draft summers or blair where do they play? we need to resign baby and hopefully leon can come back. we really don't need another undersized PF. I thought budinger made some sense since we need a wing player but I guess danny didn't like him. the real action for us will be with free agean

I'm just frustrated because Ainge didn't really do anything to get any Vets w/ rookies in this draft.
I was kinda hoping he would trade some of our bench i.e Scala, Allen etc for better Vet/Rookie.

That's why I was frustrated.

Sorry... I didn't explain it from the start.

It's now time to add some vets to the bench and go get number 18.

Guarantee you Rondo and Ray are still on the block. Only for pieces that would keep us contending though. The draft was like any other day for the Celtics. We couldn't get help from the draft and we had no draft assets. There's a lot of summer to get stuff done.

There's still summer, so the trade talk isn't done by any means.

Another thing - Certain deals can't be made until July 1st. Ainge may very well have a deal agreed upon but is just waiting till the time comes.

Deals will certainly be made but I'm still not buying that Rondo is on the block. Ray... maybe more likely (though I don't think it'll happen). I believe AInge is entertaining offers like anyone else but actively shopping may be a stretch. Like I said in previous posts, if this happens I'll be the first the admit I was being gullible but I just don't see it with this starting 5 we have. We're still a championship team with an improved bench. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm sure that the OP is just as frustrated as I am about the future of this team. I remember Ainge stating that he wanted to stay competitive for now and the future when he made the moves for KG and Ray. This would have been the year to maximize that statement with so many teams wanting to dump salary and having good young talent available for expiring deals.
I would bet that Ainge might have been looking at making a blockbuster trade using the only two players this team would part with in Ray and Rondo. Putting these guys together could have brought back 2 very good players who are young and Ainge probably wanted a draft pick also to help with the future. This just didn't happen and he stayed put for now.
If anything I think Ray would be the only one on block for now, but if nothing happens by the beginning of camp we will go into the season with Ray and end the season with Ray, as Danny isn't going to mess with team chemistry by messing with the starters during the season. Time will tell if we can gwt younger and still be competitive, but I think the writing might be on the wall that we will have to eventually go 1990's again, then we will see what Ainge is made of, or if he decides to bolt elsewhere.
