There were reports on local radio and the Internet on Friday that veteran NBA power forward/center Rasheed Wallace is in San Antonio.

Wallace, who made $13,680,000 for the 2008-09 season (according to HoopsHype.com), becomes a free agent on July 1.

The Spurs are in a position to add a big man to their roster after giving up forward/centers Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas in the trade for Richard Jefferson.

Wallace averaged 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds this season. He averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in the playoffs.

The 6-foot-11 Wallace averages 15.0 points and 6.9 rebounds for his career in the regular season. He averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds in 153 playoff games.

Wallace is a four-time All-Star and was a member of the Pistons' 2004 NBA championship team.

He appears to be a player in demand by some of the powers in the East.

We're not set on 3's. Ideally, I think every role player should be a 3 point threat. Last year House and Scal were our only backups who can hit the 3. We need a backup 3 that can hit it, but a big that can stretch the floor would be good too.

I doubt McDyess stays in Detroit. I remember an interview where they talked about how he was close to coming to Boston, and he looked like he really regretted staying in Detroit for such a disastrous season.

Money, Minutes, Championship, Weather and maybe reverse the last two. If the Spurs give him the full MLE in tax free Texas, starting next to TD is going to win out.

I think it's gonna be Sheed to Orlando or SA. He can start for either team and will probably get offered the MLE by both. Both teams are in good positions to win now.

Carter
Shard
Sheed
Dwight

vs

Parker
Manu
Jefferson
Duncan
Sheed

Which team roster is better?

Atleast Cleveland isn't in the mix.
That's cause it's pretty well known that the Cavs would have anyways (and now with Shaq) will definitely pursue McDyess over Sheed..

Sheed is finished.. McDyess gives you more versatility and will help you more on the glass..

I don't think the Cavs want Sheed... McDyess is the target...

I think Orlando might be the best fit for him. He could really help San Antonio, but he'd have to think long and hard about going there considering the fragile health of Duncan and especially Manu

San Antonio, Cleveland and Orlando should pursue McDyess. Sheed is not an ideal starting 4. He hasn't aged particularly well and I've heard his pick and roll defense has suffered. Shaq and Howard are exclusively 5's and Duncan is rapidly becoming so. Each of those teams needs a quicker player who can rotate quickly and help on the boards

He fits best in Boston. The C's are very well set at the 4 with KG, Powe and even Scal as legitimate options there. They have absolutely no one at the 5 behind 25-30 minute Perk and his in-n-out shoulder. They are already a great rebounding team, especially if Powe comes back, their primary need in their big man rotation is length and range. Wallace could average 20 minutes a night here, launch about 3 or 4 3's and a lot more f-bombs off the bench, and enjoy playing for a winner again.

I like McDyess much better as a player, and I'd probably prefer him over Sheed, but if we're looking to plug a specific role, Sheed's the guy. If we do get Sheed, I desperately hope McDyess resigns with Detroit, because he would be great for any of the other contenders. If Sheed signs somewhere else, I wouldn't be as concerned.
