Right..didn't he even go as far as saying it was a '6'8 SF from St Mary high school'?? I thought he did..

Wait'll Artest and Marion get here and Wyc has to explain it was just a joke. Those guys are going to be pissed.

Michael Holley was the one who brought up St Mary's, not Wyc. Just thought I'd defuse that before it spread.

Some less exciting FA's that havent been mentioned in this thread (and that are officially listed as 6'8") are Linas Kleiza and Jamario Moon. I'm expecting Grant Hill though. I'm totally comfortable with the NBA's renaissance man and Billy Walker holding down the backup SF spot. If anyone can bring a steady hand to the 2nd unit it's Grant.

OK thanks. Here's an updated 6'8"ish list:

Marion
Artest
Ariza
Hill
Kleiza
Bass
Moon
Barnes
Childress (added)

Barnes and Artest are a little shorter. Moon kinda sucks and wouldn't get Wyc salivating.

I think that you have only improved your playoff roster to number two behind the Spurs. While Garnett is one of the best at his position the Spurs did return Manu who is a huge spark for that team as well as another guy who can score the ball in RJ. I think that both teams are quite a bit stronger than their playoff roster was, but the Spurs improved by more. I think my Cavs have improved the least so far next to the Lakers and Nuggets, but will match up better with the Magic. All of these teams in the East could have some new additions still that will help make them the favorite for the conference and the league. It is going to be an exciting year.
Is Larry Hughes having fun yet?

You might be right, both the Celtics and Spurs are probably the best teams in the league. Cavs are close after them though by adding Shaq. The Lakers were very fortunate they didn't have to face any of them in the playoffs at full strength. All three of those teams would have beaten them.

The 6'8 guy = Hill. Guys like Marion, Artest and Ariza want multi-year deals and it appears Boston wants cap space for 2010...

I agree. I think we will have a good chance at getting Hill. He is a very good all around player, but lacks the 3 pt shooting. I still think we would have to try to get Zaza, McDyess, Sheed, or the Birdman as a big. I would love us to resign BBD as well.

Marbury can walk. Hudson has a chance to fill his role better because he is a better rebounder, defensive player, and has a better outside shot than Marbury at this point of his career. Hudson also would easily accept playing 10-15 minutes a game more than Marbury would.

Grant Hill had a great year for someone 36 years old.

He is a legitamate 6' 8" without shoes. That was his predraft measurement.

I think he'd be a perfect backup behind Pierce,
plus could be the mobile PF who can defend other mobile PF's like Posey did.

He probably has 2 seasons left in him.

Grant Hill and Rasheed Wallace would be a huge upgrade over Brian Scalabrine and
Glen Davis.

Phoenix played Hill an average of 30.5 minutes per game the past 2 years,
which is a steal at the LLE price.

^ Agree- Hill would be great- not as versatile defensively as Posey (I don't think Hill could defend the 4 at stretches like Posey could or knock down the three) but a far larger threat in terms of scoring the ball- gives us a perimeter guy outside of Allen and Pierce who can consistently pull up for the mid range shot. He'd probably take a slight hit in terms of minutes- from something like 30 minutes with the Suns to 23-24 minutes with us.

Hill makes a lot of sense. A vet, high character guy, who has played for Doc before, and will sign for one year... I'll take Hill, Dyess and Marbury and call it an offseason. All 3 will be hungry to win a title.

The only problem with McDyess, Hill, and Marbury is that next year, or at most in two years, we'll be looking for 3 different guys to join the roster.

But they keep cap space open for possibly Wade.
