The Celtics’ other unrestricted free agents are guard Stephon Marbury and center Mikki Moore and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said the team will make a qualifying offer to Glen Davis, a restricted free agent.
‘‘We’re excited to have Eddie back,’’ Ainge said. ‘‘We hope we have Glen back — we are confident we can bring him back. The market will dictate what he gets. We have interest in Steph. We like who he was and what he did for us. We have some interest in him.’’

Sounds like Mikki Moore should be packing his bags. It looks like to me that Ainge has someone else in mind for backup PG. Call me crazy but I still believe he is going to reach out for Iverson. Definitely not a ringing endorsement for Marbury.

Re: Insight from Danny Ainge?
Its far from the craziest thin I have ever read on this board. There were rumors on AI to Boston for Jefferson a few years back. I wonder who called who and if Ainge was interested in AI. IF AI was ok coming off the bench we could run a second unit where he could be the go to guy for 25 minutes a game. It is unlikely because Steph seems to be a good fit and we have more pressing needs. Why use the MLE on a position we can have locked up already?

I hope not. AI will be a cancer on this team. No big egos please. Marbury was a beaten man just dying to get some court time, Iverson expects respect ad big minutes. That's the last thing we need right now.

Re: Insight from Danny Ainge?
After last seasons disaster with the Pistons, where Iverson repeatedly said he didn't like coming off the bench and didn't think he deserved to be coming off the bench, I hope DA passes on Iverson. Unless AI has done a complete 180 and wants to win a ring and is willing to come off the bench (which I don't think AI is capable of), I don't want to see us take this chance. I'd rather go with Marbury and let him have a full offseason to get in shape and work on his game. I think a pretty big improvement in his game is in store for Marbury this upcoming season.

Of course Mikki Moore is gone, it wasn't even a discussion. The guy played worse then Pat O'bryant. Its pretty bad when Scala feels like Michael Jordan against a player.
