just get it done, danny!!
Sign Sheed for the MLE and convince Glenn to sign for 3yrs, $10.5mil - ideally !!!
then
trade salaries (scal, TA, giddens) for battier or sign Ron2/Marion as our 3rd swingman
just get it done.
If Houston rebuilds, Ainge should ask about Battier

It looks like they are shopping Battier at least a little bit. I wonder if the Rockets would do that same deal with us for Rondo instead of Rubio if they add in a future 1st rounder.
And now that Yao looks to be out for the year or at least most of it you would imagine the Rockets could use some help inside. I'm no good at coming up with new trades (I'll give it a try) but if a third team were to get involved, let's say the Clippers... Could we also get Marcus Camby if we dump a bunch of our players?
Celtics in:
Shane Battier
Aaron Brooks
Marcus Camby
Future 1st Rounder (Houston)
Rockets in:
Glen Davis (S&T)
Ricky Davis
Rajon Rondo
Future 2nd Rounder Protected (Clippers)
Clippers in:
Tony Allen
Chase Budinger
JR Giddens
Eddie House
Gabe Pruitt
Brian Scalabrine
Honestly, I'm not even quite sure if this could happen. It's hard to use to trade checker when players would need a S&T. I'm sure little adjustments could be made but,
Why for the C's:
We get 2 things we really need. A big man who can block shots off the bench (Camby) and a versitaile swing man who can play D and hit the 3 (Battier). Along with this, we get a decent PG prospect in Aaron Brooks who can knock down the 3 off the bench for us and provide energy. Now, we can use the MLE on a starting PG like Jason Kidd.
Why for the Rockets:
Without Yao they aren't going anywhere this year anyway. They were going to make a Battier and Brooks for Rubio deal, so this deal for them is not much different but now they get a sure thing in Rondo and also a big man in Davis to help with the Yao blow and could be their future starting Power Forward.
Why for the Clippers:
Major salary dump. They have a ton of players that demand minutes at the PF and C spots. Getting rid of Camby eases that a little. Davis is useless on their team. They will have to cut a few players for this to happen but they will pretty much get to pick and choose who they want to keep for the future.
(Look for Scal to be bought out and probably even more players that may help the C's)
The C's could sign Scal to a vet. min. deal to play a few minutes off the bench until Leon is healthy.
Our roster immediately after the trade with players ready to go:
Perkins / Camby
KG / Mikki (vet. min.)
Pierce / Walker
Ray / Battier / Hudson
Brooks / Steph (LLE)
Our roster with some possible tweaks (Hopefully Jason Kidd or another vet. Pg for the MLE, a healthy Leon, and at least Scal bought out and brought back for the vet. min.)
Perkins 32 / Camby 16 / Mikki
KG 32 / Powe 16 / Scal
Pierce 32 / Battier 16 / Walker
Ray 32 / Battier 16 / Hudson
Kidd 32 / Brooks 16 / Steph
This has got to be one of the most lobsided trades one could even try to spin as being good for anyone but one team involved.

To top it off you get Houstons first when they're rebuilding and will for sure suck the next year HAHAHA. Jeez I'm amazed some Celtics fan isn't on here defending this really thought out trade

Shane Battier would be a great pickup for the C's. But how? The C's have a great starting 5. The most replacable (arguably) of the bunch would be Perkins but you're not going to get Battier for him, and even if you could who are you going to get to play center?
From Houston's perspective, I don't even think they should blow it up. Without Yao, they are still a good team. So, what they need to do is trade McGrady for a high quality big man replacement. Shaq would have been nice.
For the C's, I think Baby has proved his worth as a backup PF. We've got Marbury to back up Rondo, House to backup Ray. Battier would be a great backup for Paul. But really, I think we could use a backup center more than anything.
If Gortat is really available, he's who we should be pursuing. He impressed me in the playoffs.

Rockets are going to retool. Highly unlikely for both teams to reach an agreement.

Reportedly, the Lakers are one of a short list of teams possibly pursuing Artest. Obviously, I'm rooting for him to resign with Houston. I think they'll move McGrady for sure. A report says they could trade him to Philadelphia for Dalembert and another player but Dalembert's trade kicker (15%) would be the holdup. Or Houston might target Gortat.
Acquiring Battier sure could really help...

If either Trevor Ariza or Lamar Odom prove to be too expensive for the Lakers, one backup option could be Houston forward Ron Artest, a player Mitch Kupchak has targeted in the past.
Agent David Bauman said Tuesday afternoon that the Lakers, Cleveland Cavs and Orlando Magic were three teams he expected to join Houston in pursuit of Artest.
"Ron's tight with Kobe," Bauman said. "From a basketball perspective, the Lakers make perfect sense. Ron is a winner. His best fit is when he's on a winning team. He shoots the three, posts up smaller guys, and defensively he's a beast. Certainly those are skills a contending team would find attractive."
Bauman would not discuss salary demands for Artest, but few teams have the cap room to pay more than the mid-level exception, expected to be valued at slightly less than $6 million.
Artest has said his first choice would be to re-sign with Houston, a fact that Bauman said hasn't changed despite Yao Ming's foot injury being more serious than first believed.

Artest to LA would be bad enough, but him on Orlando? Eeek!!! Seriously, we would be in deep doo doo if that happened.

Re: If Houston rebuilds, Ainge should ask about Battier
I'm trying to be patient but seeing other teams make significant moves like what we've already read about. Damn. I want to read about Boston making a good move. The problem is, Boston needs help with their bench, and what we're seeing are playoff teams retooling their starting lineups. Boston has to be proactive like Washington. Washington concerns me in the east for Boston. I mean I haven't forgotten about the Celtics losing record versus the Wizards two seasons ago.
I can see Artest signing with the Lakers. Especially, if Odom chases the money... Hence, why Battier can offset a lot of these recent moves from other teams. But, I feel a tad better presuming that this is getting to Ainge as well. Only he knows better than fans what position he's in and what he can actually do given the circumstances.

I can see Artest doing a one year $5 million deal with LA. He loves LA. That team would be scary good.
